Iphone 5C or Samsung 4S

I have the Iphone 4s and just got the same card to upgrade for "free." We just call Verizon and they send us out the new phone of our choosing. I've never taken the card into a store as it's just easier to call and have them ship it. We just called today and my new iphone 5c will be here on Monday. Works for me!!

As for comparison, I've had the iphone for a few years and my husband had the Samsung Galaxy 3 or 4 (i forget which). I've played with the Galaxy and really like the large screen, and even thought of switching over. I just have to say I'm so used to IOS that I decided to stay with it. Also, some of the apps are not available on android.

I didn't know you could call and order the phone. Where do they ship it and how do you get all of your stuff from your old phone to your new phone?

I would vote for the iPhone, of course I am an Apple fangirl, and everything I have is so tied to iTunes.

I got a card in the mail from Verizon for a free Iphone 5C when upgrading my contract. ..... Now I just received this card about a week ago so I'm wondering if this is a bait and switch deal. ..... Since there are none available in any of the stores and I made a stink about contacting Verizon for sending these cards out and not having the stock to back it up I think one will materialize.

So let me get this straight ... you got a card a week ago, and are upset that they were currently out of stock when you finally got around to going to the store? Really? It's not like every store can hold a million phones in stock just in case someone wants one. Especially a free phone.

Just like with Disney ADRs, Black Friday deals, and any other product you might purchase ... you snooze, you lose.

The choice depends on how tech savy you are. If you're into technology and love alot of gadgets and a 1080p picture, then the choice would be the Galaxy S4. If you're not into technology and are a little slower at figuring out new gadgets, then the iPhone is more for you. The Samsung is way more advanced, but the iPhone is much easier to use. We have iPhones and Galaxy phones/tablets in our household and both are fantastic products and each is good at doing things better than the other.

I have an iPhone 5s and my woman has a S4. I have had like every other iPhone since the very first one came out and was almost considering getting an android phone this time. I have very glad I didn't.

My battery lasts way longer than hers. And I use my phone more than she does.

We both use the same cell towers and my signal is always much better than hers. Here is usually pretty good but when we get somewhere where it is weak, her phone will drop the call and she has to use mine. Mine won't have 5 bars with LTE, but it still works.

My camera is also much better. I know the 5S has a different camera than the 5C, but when you look at our pictures on the big computer screen, mine look much better. The camera in the 5s has some cool things designed in so it is supposed to be better than the megapixel count would suggest.

My internet is much faster than hers. Remember, we both use the same cell towers and one is less than a block from my house so it must be the phone.

Also, my phone always works. I never have to reset it or deal with it freezing up or anything of that. Her phone has problems once in a while, not constantly by any means, but it's still not something I have to deal with.

The apps for the iPhone are much better I feel. I mean there is no disneyland explorer (which is a really cool app) or watch disney movies anywhere for android phones.

I don't have a big huge case, I also have the Apple leather case and I drop my phone a lot. I am a clumsy person, and there is no damage on my phone at all.

And if something does go wrong, apple is just a phone call away and they will help you fix anything. I feel they go above and beyond. I had a phone stolen and bought a used iPhone and had a problem, and apple was still there helping me, for free. (Turns out the problem was with the cheap sync cable I was using, not with the iPhone or iTunes.

My vote is 100% iPhone. No question.

And you know what else. The iPhone looks way better. I hate the stupid plastic back case on her S4. My iPhone 5s is a much better looking phone with its metal and glass.

The stupid plastic back is the beauty in the design, What do I mean by that? Let's go head to head surfing and making calls all day. When we are both getting low on power you will be looking for a power outlet whereas I will pop that stupid cover and put in a fresh battery and be on my merry way. Being able to replace the battery when needed to me is a huge advantage. I travel a ton and the fact I can do that and not have to have the oh no moment my phone is going to die is big when it comes to that

I tried to switch to an Android but I am an iphone girl. I went back to an iphone.

I will agree with that. The battery life on the android I had was terrible, it drained whether or not I used it. The iPhone only seems to drain when it is used. And my iPhone seems to charge much faster than my android did. And as a said in an earlier post Androids don't always play nice with the General Motors bluetooth on their cars. iPhone works fine.

It really wouldn't be fair for me to compare the internet connection, since my android was 3G and my iPhone is 4G.

And I am a person that absolutely did not want an Apple product because I had a problems with an Apple III+ computer years ago.

I finally got out of my Sprint contract YAY! I had the Samsung 2S and 3S and hated them. I had over 6 different ones all with various issues since we started our contract with them. I am now on an iphone 5s and LOVE it. I don't miss the larger screen and the camera is awesome. I will never go back.

I've only had Android, so I can't speak personally to the iphone. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II and it has been a fantastic phone. It's different from the other Galaxy phones (bigger screen, more capability) but 3 of my family members have S3s and 4s and are very happy with them.

My dd has an iphone 4s, which she switched to from an android phone. She likes it a lot and says it's easy to use. She only needs the basics so I think iphone is best in that case. It fits well with her lifestyle (she uses it to listen to music while she's running, which would be impossible to do with my phone).

I may try an iphone someday, but there are a few things that I dislike. One is that stupid small screen. I have poor eyesight and it's just too small for me (and that's why I have the Note, which is actually too big, as it turns out). Two is the stranglehold Apple has over everything you do with it. I get that it's supposed to protect you and keep all apps running "seamlessly" on your phone. I appreciate that part; however, I also think it gives them a lot of extra cash and bars things that ought to be the phone user's choice. Three is having to use iTunes. I DETEST that!!!! I have 2 ipads and was really shocked at how limiting it is and what a pain to have to do everything through iTunes. On the plus side, Apple has some really great apps. On the downside, often when I try to download something (like a decent keyboard), the free version is so filled with ads that I just give up. Why do you have to pay for a choice of keyboards? Finally, I don't like not having card storage capability and not being able to change the battery. I like to be able to reset things by removing the battery from time to time.

I am very far from being tech-savvy, but those are the reasons why I'm not yet ready to move to an iphone. I've had no problems with android as far as viruses, my battery lasts a lot longer than the iphone's (but that's one of the perks of the Note), and I have the best signal of everyone who comes to my house, which gives a phone a good test as we're in a remote location with sketchy service. I've learned, though, that you have to judge phones on your specific area and the areas to which you travel before you can tell which one is better. Mine is best where I live, but dd's iphone is better in other locations.

Finally, it also depends on how you use your phone. I like the Note because I can use it as a small tablet. I'd never be able to use an iphone (in its present shape) to do much online. But I'm coming to do that less and less, and I'm missing the old days of a phone being simply a phone. I still need it for navigation and checking things online often enough that I want a decent sized screen, which the iphone has yet to offer. When it does, I may try it out!

I really like my Galaxy 4. I upgraded to it on black Friday instead of an iphone.

I got the same thing, but via email a couple weeks ago. I called and inquired about it. I've been without a contract for 6 months. My 2 boys' contract expire this September. They offered the upgrade for their lines also. I wasn't to keen on the $30 upgrade fee and told them that. They in return offered free accessories to offset the upgrade fee. We got 2 car chargers and a wall charger for a spare. My boys are very happy with the phone and I am also, seeing as I had the 4 previously. The way I look at it is, we will always have a cell phone, so a 2 year contract doesn't bother me! We got 3 new phones and 3 accessories for a total of $96.15. Plus, we are all 3 on the same contract end date. They sent them to me via 2 day fedex at no charge.

This topic is so very Coke vs. Pepsi.

I mean, obviously Coke is the correct choice, but Pepsi lovers will still try to coax you to their side. ;)

But really, especially since you haven't used a smartphone before, you'll only know what you like after you try them both.

I personally use a Galaxy S4. We are a Samsung loyal family. Love our Samsung SmartTV too, and how well the phones and TV pair with each other. (iPhone may do this as well, but I don't know).

I just wanted to suggest that if you wanted to iphone and they are out, have them order it for you - they should be able to overnight it to your house for free. You can be up and running with an iphone 5c tomorrow by noon. (you just call *228 to activate on Verizon)

You are right about that. A easily removable battery would be nice. Thankfully I always have some power around, so it's not an issue for me. Everywhere has power now a days, at airports included.

I even have a power source in my Cessna and boat. Even when I'm flying I don't want my phone to be dead. Lol

I recently traded my iPhone 4s for a galaxy4s.... I am now typing this from my iPhone 5s... Ugh! Loved every feature the Samsung had loved the screen size the light weight but... I had no signal inside my home... It could have just been an issue with that individual phone sprint told me it looked like it was not programmed correctly idk anyway I'm back to iphone

so a 2 year contract doesn't bother me!

Almost all of the 2 year contract plans I have looked at are way more expensive than the no contract plans. Why pay $1,000 for an I*Phone on a contract plan when you can get one for $600 on a no contract plan?

This totally depends on the carrier and the plan you need. My husband uses major amounts of data for work, and he is expected to use his own phone for it. He needs unlimited 4g data he has to have a phone that will quickly do what he needs. I like my data and so does DD. Our best value for that in our area is a contract plan with CSpire. It is cheaper to have 3 phones on a 2 year contract on their unlimited plan than to pay retail for 3 phones and get unlimited through a no contract carrier.
