iPhone 4 and 5 Coming to Straight Talk...

The $30 plan is for 1000 minutes PLUS 1000 texts and 30 meg data

The $45 plan is "unlimited" all - you need this plan for a smartphone or a bring your own phone (sim card)

ALL plans are PLUS TAX. Here in Maine I pay just over $48 for the "unlimited" plan

I have tmobile, pay as you go, on one of our phones. do you think i can pause it for a few months to try out straight talk? just hoping it 's ok reception where we are. fwiw, tmobile AWFUL. .... anyone?

No. They have a $30 plan with 1000 minutes talk, 1000 text or picture messages and a data limit of 30mb.

I don't know if they'll even activate a smartphone on the $30 plan.

They won't - in the case of both America Movil brands (Net 10 and Straight Talk), it specifically says on smartphone (Android, and now, iPhone) packaging, that activation is for the "unlimited" plans, only.

You may want to poll someone who lives in/near your ZIP code and to get an accurate answer...

Oh yea I saw this pop up on the Walmart page... I gotta say it is very interesting. It would save us money (monthly at least). The initial cost of the phone is pretty big, but no contract and all is nice. I dunno, gotta do some calculations.

I already did the calculations -- my wife is coming off a 2-year contract with Verizon (and the iPhone 4). We paid $150 for the phone in 2011 and the bill is roughly $100 a month for 700 minutes/500 texts/unlimted data.

Compare that to the initial outlay for a ST iPhone + $45 a month for 2 years and the savings run close to $700 (local/state taxes, etc. will vary, slightly). Plus, talk and text is unlimited when compared to the Verizon plan.

So far, the only negative I can see is it won't be for sale to people in parts of KY, WI, OK, and NM (since Verizon does not own/operate towers, there).

I'm thinking of getting an iPhone 5 on Straight Talk when my contract is up in October. I have no problem upgrading but a high phone bill is not what I want. So it's something I'm willing to look into.

Reviving this post ~ I can now send picture messages to non iPhone phones *I could only iMessage pictures until now* the app is WhatsApp, it was .99 for me - free for non iphone friends/family.

Using a iPhone 4S with Straight Talk and very pleased.
