IPad2

I've never had an issue connecting to any free wi-fi with mine. :confused3

I am baffled by that too. I got to settings and it says it is connected but when I am in Safari it pops up the not connected dialog box. I check again and I am connected.

I fly around for work and only one airport will connect and I have ever been able to connect to and it takes a while. Another coworker has the same problem.

Mine is an Ipad and not a 2.

Ok, maybe stupid question. I have been looking at the refurbished ones online. What is the difference between WiFi and 3 G. What does a 3G do? Thanks

An iPad with 3G is set to connect to either Verizon or AT&T's network. You would be able to use your iPad anywhere you could get a cell phone signal. There are several different plans to choose for different amounts of usage. The prices are the same for both carriers.

Without 3G you will be connecting with wifi. If you have wireless Internet at your home, office, etc you can connect thru that. You can also connect at places like Starbucks.

It all depends on where you will be using your iPad. I use mine with wifi. If I am away from home or work, I hotspot off my phone.

3G allows you to use the iPad when not connected to wifi usually when travelling. You do have to
pay for the 3G service but no contract needed. You can activate it on a month to month basis and
pay a fee for that month. The 3G plans come from either Verzon or
ATT and you need to decide which 3G network you will use before buying the iPad.

I bought the wifi/3G model but in retrospect, I am finding I really didn't need the 3G model, although it's nice to have the option. Most places, hotels, airport, dining restaurants have free wifi.

I don't know if you've tried this but we have to do this at our airport here in Vegas. Close out all of your safari windows, connect to the internet, and then reopen a safari window. Some airports make you agree to their terms and conditions before you can fully use the internet and for whatever reason, that screen with the terms only appears when you first open up your web browser (it won't show up if you just try refreshing an already open browser for some reason...)

I also don't like that I can't see flash apps. I found an app that was recommended on another website to fix that. It is called swifter I think. I haven't tried it with games yet but the class I am taking online uses video and I have been able to view the videos since downloading the app. You just access the internet through that instead of safari.

I love my iPad 2. I only wish it came with Pages (word processor) preloaded like the macs do. It is available as a download app. So far I haven't bought it. I have a laptop also so I just switch over to that when I need the word processor.

Thanks for the hint! I had trouble connecting at barnes & noble the other day and they only said the volume was too high. What you describe was probably my problem. Thanks!

I got the first ipad when it came out. We also have an ipad 2 for DH. I will tell you my biggest negative and i will say now that it probably a problem that only I encounter and it's not something you will prob have to worry about.

I drop my ipad on my face a lot.

Okay now that you are done laughing i spend a lot of time on my ipad and tend to lie or recline in bed with it. I am usually holding it on my chest with one hand so i can read, surf, play etc. ocassionally that arm gets tired and i drop the ipad. and always on my face.

Anwyay, this is my way of saying i think they are totally worth the investment. I don't know that people really need the screen protector, cases etc. (i could see the keyboard). Mine looks just like it did the day i bought it (except for the finger prints but those come off with some glass cleaner).

good luck with your decision. it is defintely an expensive toy.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I don't have one but I can definitely see (or not see ;)) myself doing the same thing as I do this with my Iphone! So you're not the only one!!:rotfl::rotfl:
