IPad??

Since the newer Ipad is coming out, how soon do ya'll think the price on the 1st generation Ipad will go down?

Is there a 2nd generation Samsung Tab coming out as well does anyone know?

Partner has an iPad and iPhone and this is our take on it:

Pros:
-It's versatile, uses basically the same app store (there are specific iPad apps, but it can run almost all iPhone apps as well).
-Great for reading and has a nice vibrant screen that isn't all that bad on the eyes.
-Long battery life.
-A lot of accessories available.

Cons:
-It's Apple, so it's locked down and restricted to what's on the app store unless you crack it and then you run into issues with new OS software.
-Scratches pretty easy, so make sure you get a case for it and probably a screen protector.
-No FLASH! It seems like a simple thing, but there are SO MANY websites, especially shopping ones that use it.
-iTunes, neither of us can stand it, it's way more complicated then it needs to be, there will be many who disagree, but I've never liked iTunes, but understand why it's there (licensing agreements).

I am considering getting rid of my notebook computer that I use for personal stuff, but I won't replace it with an iPad. I'm highly interested in the new Motorola Xoom that is coming out soon as it will be Android based and much more flexible. The price is a little high right now though (intro price is at the high end of the iPad prices) as you are required to get one with mobile service and a one month subscription to unlock WiFi.

I use an app called Zinio for my magazines. I just checked and 12 digital issues of O Magazine is $18.00, 12 digital issues of Martha Stewart Living is $28.00. Those are the regular magazines, not the iPad-enhanced stand alone app verisons that sell for 3.99 - 4.99 per issue. The enhanced ones have imbedded video, etc. and are wonderful. But I just wanted the regular magazine I am used to getting in the mail, so the Zinio version suits me perfectly.

It is just a page for page copy of the paper magazine - in color, of course. I also get a free digital verison of People because I am a print subscriber.

The only stand alone I buy is Vanity Fair. I am a print subscriber for now but when the paper subscription runs out I won't renew. It's more convenient to have that magazine digitally because it's big and heavy. I'd rather read and store it on my iPad.

I haven't purchased The New Yorker digitally either, because I think their pricing structure is out of whack - 3.99 per weekly issue even if you are a print subscriber. I probably will break down and get it at some point but for now I will read the paper version.

I love getting magazines on the iPad!!!

Nope...still no USB, no Flash, same general specs as the other major competitors on the market (ie. Motorola Xoom).

We have an iPad, and still, although it's decent and the new one will be decent, still it's not the best on the market, IMO, but boy does Apple know how to create fanboys and hype, I will give them that.

As for the Xoom, before someone says it's more expensive, you have to compare the Xoom to the 32GB Wifi plus Mobile edition of the iPad to be fair and the price difference is not huge (although Apple does win by $70). When the WiFi only edition comes out it will probably be priced right at the iPad 32GB WiFi only edition.

Now I'm even more confused new Ipod or go with the blackberry version Playbook.... Or Wait they are talking Ipod 3 for the fall now.... there is a part of me that hates technology it changes too fast to keep up.

Ipod or Ipad? Different product.

I'm posting from the drive through at McDonalds using their wifi. Another cool thing about the Ipad. :thumbsup2

Love mine.
wish it supported flash player though:rolleyes1

I have an iPad, and love it. In response to a couple things:
1 - For flash video I love the app Skyfire. It doesn't work on every flash video site, but most I go to it does.

2 - For creating/editing word documents and excel spread sheets I use an app called Documents to go. There are others, this is just the one I chose. I uploaded all my documents using drop box. Then, I always have the latest one regardless if I am on my iPad, iPhone, or even my computer.

3 - It is my understanding the Xoom is actually shipping without flash support. That is a feature that will be added in later.

Flash will be made available end of this month, it is an upgrade that needs to be processed.
