iPad Mini or the regular iPad?

I'm thinking about purchasing an iPad for myself for Christmas but I'm unsure of which to buy. So all you ipad lovers can you help me out. Which do have and why you prefer it over the other?

I have the IPad 2. I can't talk about the mini because I don't have one. What I like about the regular IPad is the size. For me I think the mini would be too small, besides I have an IPhone. Some like the fact that the mini is more portable. I think it is just personal preference. I guess you need to think about how you will be using it. I use mine mostly at home. That being said it is not a problem to take it with me if I want. Either way I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I use my ipad at home and travelling. I have no problem fitting it in my carry-on. I like the full size of it.

The mini would be good if you need something to carry around day-to-day (not much bigger than my Samsung Note :)). I would highly recommend the ipad mini if you are one of those that would use your ipad to take pictures in the parks :thumbsup2

I have both...and I really prefer the mini. It is so much lighter...I just throw it in my purse when I go out. The regular ipad is too heavy to bring most places so I only used it a home.

I did not think I would like the mini at all. When I picked it up for the first time and felt the weight of it I was sold. It feels so much lighter, but the screen doesn't seem much smaller to me. I read on it, surf the net, banking, games...everything.

I vote mini!

What will you be using it for? I like my Ipad for surfing the internet because of the bigger screen. For apps or reading, I wish I had a mini. The Ipad is too large and heavy to comfortably hold with one hand.

Thanks all.

I'll use it to surf the internet, read, play games, etc.

I was expecting the mini to be around the same size as my Kindle Fire. But when I seen it in the store I was impressed with its size. The screen looked way bigger then my fire.

I have both the iPad 4 and the iPad Mini. I would say it really depends on how you plan to use it. Is it going to be primarily in your home? If yes, get the full sized one. If you plan to carry it in your purse a lot when you're away from home, then get the Mini.

Whichever you buy, make sure you get a good protective case for it, and not the cute but not-so-functional Smart Cover sold at the Apple Store. Amazon has lots of nice cases for around $15 to $25.

I have an Ipad 4 which I love. I also ordered a Mini which should get to me in about a week or so. The ipad 4 will be used at home or when I need the bigger screen. The Mini will be used out and about or when I need something smaller.

I think I'll watch videos more on the bigger ipad, because of the Retina screen.

I prefer the iPad over the mini since I too already have an iPhone. I have a nook as well so I prefer the larger size for movies and such.

I am hoping we'll like the iPad 4 better than a mini...I had a 5% pharmacy coupon from Target and they also have a $50 gift card with purchase on the iPad, so I was able to effectively save about $95 on the regular iPad 4. The mini didn't have a gift card offer, so by the time I got just the Target cc and pharmacy discount, I was only about $100 away from having the regular iPad. I know $100 is a lot of money, but for the full screen and retina display I figured it was worth the extra. DD is getting it for Christmas. I hope that is what she will prefer over the mini!

I'm confused. Several people have said they have an iPad4 and a mini. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since when is there a 4?

Ipad 4 is the newest with retina display and the new A6 processor. Ipad 3 still has retina display but has the A5 processor.

I just got mine last week- and went for the full size- I'm tired of lugging my laptop around and this is much lighter, plus I have my Kindle for reading.

The 4 came out at the same time as the Mini.

Mini:
The mini feels very much like a kindle fire. Smaller purse size, light weight. It is the more ideal side for reading in bed. If you are a 'I want a device to fit inside any purse' then this is the perfect size. It would also be easier to hold over your head while reading in bed. I think this is more of a personal device, in the same way that an iPhone is.

Full size iPad:
I'm still a bigger fan of the full size iPad as we play a lot of family board games, I can set it down in the middle of the table and everyone can play on the screen for some apps. We also watch movies and videos off of it while cuddled on the couch or set up on the table. I have a satchel size purse that I use and it easily fits inside of that. But it doesn't fit in some of my smaller purses. I often use it to read recipes while cooking and the larger size with a smart cover works well as a cookbook. It's heavier though, I can't hold it over my head in bed for long and usually prop it up and read on my side. And if you do accidentally drop it on your head while reading in bed...it hurts. lol.

Ah, so there is a new processor. Thanks!

There was no Ipad 3. Officially it was "The New Ipad". Chronologically and for all intents and purposes it is the Ipad 3. Ipad 4 came out at same time as mini.

We have 2 Ipad 2's in our household. We have no plans to get a mini. Just no point to the mini for us. We have smart phones that we always have on us and the Ipad 2 is slim and doesn't weigh all that much.

Yes, I realize iPad 3 was never an official name. I have that one.
