iPad mini 16GB vs Samsung Galaxy 3 10.1" 16GB

Both are $299, the Galaxy will be delivered tomorrow from Amazon, I have the one hour guarantee from Walmart for the $100 giftcard with purchase of the mini.
DS has requested an iPad - what would you give him?
Galaxy had expandable memory.
Tax on iPad is $19.xx - no tax on Amazon purchase.

Sometimes parents can understand the big picture more... and kids are narrow-minded and "think" they know what they want. Not sure of her DS's age, but so many younger kids call all tablets "ipads" jur like all tissues are "Kleenex"

Are the sizes comparable? Is that Galaxy a smaller one like the ipad mini? Does DS have a preference smaller or full-size?

Galaxy is bigger, has a SD card slot so memory is expandable.
He just wants an iPad - hasn't specified mini or not.

I would go for the Galaxy then. Especially if it has the bigger screen, and also the SD card slot which the iPad lacks. Android is awesome and the apps are pretty good.

I would get the iPad, all the teens want the Apple products. Like it or not Apple has the cool factor to them.

I would also buy the Android - just for the expansion capabilities. Plus I like Amazon customer service if there are any problems.

Got the iPad last night, well it will arrive between 12/15 and 12/22, I will present him with both, have him play with the Galaxy first, if he isn't wowed my mom will purchase the Galaxy from me, she likes the look/sound of it.

Walmart return policy - 15 days on electronics, 15 days from yesterday when I paid for the item or 15 days from when I receive it? It would be completely sealed if it's returned.
Games - he's very familiar with Apple apps - had an iPod touch *lost* I have an iphone he's always playing on. He also has an HP Touchpad that he enjoys *Why does he need another tablet??* you might ask - I do too. His sister has a Kindle Fire, she occasionally let's him take a look.
He says the iPad will be used for school, typing - I also have a keyboard for the Galaxy arriving today.
