This morning I posted a bunch of questions on the Canadian board about getting a 3G SIM card for an iPad 2. Mainly because most of the questions revolve around Canadian companies.

However, I know many read the Budget Board and am hoping those knowledgable might take a peek and let me know if there's anything I need to know about using 3G.

Ohh, and yes - this iPad is 3G capable according to the box it came in!

Thanks!

I don't know about ones shipped to Canada, but our iPad shipped with a SIM card for the chosen carrier. All we had to do to get online (3G) was go to settings and walk through the Cellular Data section (and, of course, input cc info for payment). :confused3

Hmm... I assumed it did not come with a 3G card but never actually looked. I'll do that later this morning. Thanks. Not holding my breath, but that would be nice.

Ours was purchased at Target...SIM card all set to go. FWIW. ;)

Oh, and I DID go to the AT&T store, thinking I needed a SIM card, but the joker there couldn't even get the card slot OPEN (scratched up the device trying...so mad), so I went over to the Apple store and asked. They opened it, showed me the SIM and explained how to get things activated.

Did you check the apple.com.ca website? The instructions are right there:

Apparently if you buy a Canadian iPad, you have to get a sim card from Apple or one of the carriers offering your 3G coverage. In the US, you chose your carrier when purchasing an iPad and your iPad ships with the sim card already installed. Once you install the card, you contact the carrier to set up your service.

Thanks for the help and information!

Last night (when my husband came home) we looked at it, and it turns out the iPad did come with a sim card already installed. It's for Bell and I can either set up a plan with them, or purchase another card from a different carrier.
