IoA/US for a 2yr old?

I haven't been to IoA/US and wanted some opinions on taking a 2 yr. old. He's pretty tall for his age (18 months now and approx. 34 inches). Should we just wait until he's closer to 3? Thanks for you opinions!

I think there's lots to do for kids at Universal--I want to say there are about 5 different play areas, for instance. That said however, I think a 2yo is a little too young to enjoy it much. IMhO, they'd have a much better time in a year or two or five.

If you have to choose between when to take him, I would wait. However, I wouldn't not go because of his age if you are planning on going anyways.


lol, I don't know if that made any sense at all. Whether he is just walking around the mall or walking around a theme park probably wouldn't make much difference to him at this stage.

That is up to you.If you are going hoping to ride alot of rides as a family,Most of the Major rides have height restrictions, and they are HIGHER restrictions than Disney.Alot of the rides/attractions are intense.There are plenty of kids play areas though, so if you are going so that you and a significant other can swap off and ride and your 2 yr old won't mind , then by all means go.We waited till this year when my daughter was 8yrs old, and we still did alot of swapping off since she didn't want to ride alot.

I think Disney is more suited towards younger kids. Universal/IOA has a more adult theme (but in my opinion, a funner theme), and the rides are generally more intense. There are some rides, however, that are more for kids (or family) inside of Universal, like E.T., the Simpsons, Men in Black, etc.

In general, I think they will enjoy the parks more when they're older (maybe around 6-7 years old).

Universal/IOA, in my opinion are better theme parks in general than Disney. But it is a more intense and cutting-edge experience.

The play areas are nice enough... but that means an adult has to sit in play area and keep an eye on him. Not a great use of theme park time, IMO. Unless you're bringing along someone like a granny who doesn't want to ride the rides anyway and doesn't mind playing babysitter all day, I'd say no. There's simply not enough for little kids in the park -- it's the biggest shortcoming at Universal/IoA, IMO.
