Inviting all Disers - introduce yourself!!!!

Hi,
I'm Suzanna. I live in Atlanta with my wonderful husband and daughter who is 3. I'm a project manager at an investment bank. I love to talk politics (I'm a raging liberal Obamahead) and have an addiction to shopping at Target as my posts on the GA thread will attest to.
I joined the Dis last year but haven't been to WDW in 15 years and am not actually going until next year. I have stayed around because it is such a nice community. :grouphug:

Hi guys!
I am Allison. I have been married to my husband for 11 years and we have three amazing kids. Two sons, 10 and 8 and our Princess, who is 4. We live in "The Hamptons".
I have been a SAHM since I had my daughter. A bad knee caused me to resign from being a part time Police Officer here. I just had my 4th knee surgery last month and am looking forward to finally getting off crutches. Hopefully on Tuesday! My husband is a 911 dispatcher for the same dept I used to work for. He is also a member of our volunteer fire department.
We are big Disney fans as well as huge Yankee fans. We have taken the kids to WDW annually since 1997. We also honeymooned there in 1996. My husband and I are heading down for a few days the first week of June. Our first time without the kids! We are really looking forward to it.
I was a long time lurker on the Dis before I finally joined last year.:goodvibes

:goodvibes Hi I'm Cristy. We live right outside Chattanooga Tennessee. Full - time I am the clerk for a shipping & receiving office - lots of responsibilities, very boring job (thank goodness for the DIS). During the school year I take care of the aftercare kids at DS & DD's school. DS is 10 and finishing up the 5th grade, DD is 5 and finish her K4 year. DH is currently working as an electricians helper (until we get back from Disney). He is also a member of the Tennessee National Guard and in the fall becomes a full time student once again. DH & I both work with our teen youth group at church as volunteer leaders, as well as, our DS's cub scout pack.

We love WDW!!!!! We have been going since 2004 and just can't get enough! Can't wait, we are 3 weeks away from our next trip! :cheer2:
I am taking my DD 8 to Chattanooga for the first time for both of us in August this year. We are very excited about going!!

Fun thread! :)

I'm Tasha and have been on the DIS for about 4 years now. I've been married to Scott (hence, the screenname) for 8.5 years. We have a little girl that just turned 3 and she will become a big sister to a little boy on June 18. We currently live in Mississippi.

I just graduated last week with my AAS degree in Health Information Technology. I will soon be taking my certification test to become credentialed as an RHIT. I may go for my RHIA degree and credentials at some point too but am taking a MUCH needed break for now to spend some time with my family. I will probably start looking for a job this fall and we are hoping to go back to WDW next year as well.

I've been noticing more and more names that I don't recognize, and I thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves, so that others may know us better.

My name is Sandy, and I've been DISing since 2004 :teeth:
I own a custom picture frame store in Indiana, and I have 2 beautiful girls:cutie: :cutie: . My DH is an engineer by career, and a volunteer fireman and EMT when he is home.

I love the DIS, even after all the bannings that happened recently:guilty: I've met so many wonderful people here both in person, and just online, and I'm proud to call them my friends :goodvibes Many you know me by my polls, which I have a blast doing:cool1: , and many of you know me by the mega threads that I have started :) I must state that I am saddened at the amount of people that I know here that are now banned:sad1: (I miss them), but I'm hoping that we, as a DIS community, can get past this sad time and have fun again !!!

So, please take some time to briefly introduce yourself, so we can all know you better :)

Sandy!!!! :wave2: hello remember me ?? I met you at the Chicago thread... i am still around... and yes I have friends who got banned and is sad about it... and just like what you mentioned I am hoping that we get past this sad moment...

BTW.. I Peeps.. I am Timmy from Pa... who 1st learn about Disney when I was 5 and had never relinquish the feelings since... Happy Chatting!!!! And hope to see you at the Promise land!!!:grouphug:

Hi y'all. Glad to get to know everyone just a little.

I am Tara. I am married to Jeff and between us we have 5 kids...see siggie. We have one dog, 3 indoor cats, and about 8 turtles but since turtle season will soon be upon us I think that number may be going up.
DH works for his dad as a sheet metal fabricator and I am a SAHM. I worked as a title clerk for a motorcycle dealership for 7 years before staying home with this last child.
I hope this doesn't get me points my saying this, but we have never been to WDW or DL. I found the DIS when starting my research for a cruise we plan to take with DCL in May of 2010 to celebrate 10 years of marriage. It originally started with just a cruise and the more I lurk on these boards the more we think we may do a week at WDW prior to the cruise.
I think I covered most of it. Want to know anything else...just ask me.:)

Hi everyone, I am Connie, grew up in Chicago and now living in Wisconsin. Married for 25 years, with two sons who are still at home. I have been a member for a number of years. Found the boards while looking for discount information while planning a trip to the world. I had the most fun during the last WAPASADI challenge. I met some wonderful people.

My name is Michelle and I've been around since Dec 2005. I post randomly depending on how much time I have!

I've been married to my husband John for almost 4 years and I've got two great daughters who are 15 and 17. We have 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. DD15 had a rabbit but she died, and now she wants another, but we'll see, we already have a zoo!!

I am Air Force and in the past year moved from NC to ND. North Dakota wasn't as bad as we originally thought, but we don't like the cold and the job market SUCKS up here so in a couple months we are moving to Decatur Texas where DH already has a job.

Just closed on our house a week or so ago and I'm so excited to be moving and retiring, but sad that DD's have to start again at yet ANOTHER school.

We LOVE Disney and try to go at least once every year. For the first few trips DH was no that excited about going or going back, but HE is the one that suggested that we go in March and when I mentioned FREE Dining in Sept. he said, "BOOK IT!!" The other day I even came in and caught him watching a show about Disney on the Travel channel....how I love that man!!!

Hi y'all! :wave2: I'm Susan from South Cackalacky (South Carolina), a Southern Belle married to a wonderful guy from OH. The Podcast changed me from a longtime DISBoard lurker to an infrequent poster. :surfweb:

By day, I handle data security for an insurance company. Nights and weekends, I'm an event and wedding planner. I do crafts to relieve stress - bending wire to make jewelry is an excellent way to work out frustrations! As DH says our yard needs work, I understand that I have a new hobby called gardening!

I stumbled across the DIS in 2000 while surfing, and have used the DIS (and DU) to plan many WDW trips. I recommend the site to anyone going to WDW, including a co-worker who's heading down with his family this summer. I keep drawing lime green Mickey heads on his whiteboard! :lmao: :thumbsup2 My next WDW trip is with DH in October for Food and Wine. :dance3:

Hi Sandy. :wave2:

Old DIS'er here, old guy too, LOL.

I am a financial planner by career, a Disney nut in my off hours. My DW, Marie (DIS name is Lady M), is a homemaker by trade, and enjoys life in her off hours. We have two 'kids', Vince, age 30, just married this past week to our new DIL, Katlyn, and Natalie, married to Ken, and they have one son, our first and only grandchild, Jeremy, who just turned one a few weeks back.:cloud9:

We will be married 37 years, this coming September 11th. We live in the same home we purchased when we got married, in northwest suburban Chicago.

As to my Disney stuff, I 'discovered' Disney World while on a business convention back in early '98. Marie was fighting Stage III breast cancer at the time. I was taken aback by WDW, even though I only did MGM for a half day. We had never been to WDW, always the normal excuses....too expensive, too hot, too crowded, 'it's only a theme park, we have 6 Flags nearby', etc, etc. The kids were older by then, 18 and 21. When I left to come home, I vowed that if Marie survived the cancer, we would all go there, as a family, to celebrate her return to health.

In the meantime, early '99, I came across the DIS, while doing Net searches for information. I registered and started to learn, a lot. Marie did beat the cancer (just completed 10 years in remission earlier this year) and we did go to WDW in Dec of '99. It was fabulous, we all had a super time.

I wanted to go back the following year, I was bitten by the Mouse. Marie had a super time, though apparently was not bitten, LOL. She said I should go solo, fine with her, she was not ready to head back. All told, in the following years, I have returned about 20 times, solo, other than one dad/daughter with Natalie four years ago. I typically go in May and December; did just return two weeks ago. Hoping to maybe get Marie there this December, time will tell.

Not too long after returning from our family trip, I became one of the five moderators on this board (they used to have people, not that 'team' thing they have now). It was a fun (most of the time, LOL) stint, did it for about two years. When I quit that in early '02, Marie registered here as Lady M. She enjoyed the place quite a bit. We both have been to many, many Chicago area DIS meets over the years (seems like there are none anymore), and have met up with Sandy on a number of occasions. This board got quite snarky and ruled quite heavy handed, back in mid '03, and Marie, thinking it not her type of place to chill out, pretty much gave up posting ever since. But if a meet is around, she still enjoys those.

I have always enjoyed hanging out on this board, the community, till about two years ago. At that time, so many threads were hijacked, for weeks on end, for the private playground of a small group of posters, that it too, for me, became not the fun place it once was for me. I enjoyed the DIS overall, great information, great people, for the most part, but this board just lost its appeal for me. So, for the past couple, I have spent most of my DIS time, less for sure than it used to be, mostly on the Theme park and Photography boards (I enjoy taking and posting pictures....though with little time here, don't post many anymore) and try to help a bit with questions, if I can, on the Tech board. I do have a number of long running threads here subscribed to, so do keep up reading here and there, maybe a post once in awhile saying hello.

With Sandy's thoughts in the OP, it sure seems as though the board still is not the flavor I prefer, so probably will keep doing as I am, keeping my distance, LOL. I must say though, I have met many, many good people from here over the years, many I count as good, personal friends. Heck, while at WDW earlier this month, I met up with over 20 folks from here the eight days I was there. And I always meet up with folks there, so never really solo.

Overall, the DIS is a pretty good place, certainly with flaws. For me, it works okay.

Nice thread, Sandy.

PS: Oh, I can get verbose also, if given the opportunity. :surfweb:

Hi everyone :)

Im Emma and ive been a member of the DIS since last August (i think lol). I'm 25 and have a 2year old DD. We live in the UK in a place called Chatham.
Im a stay at home mum at the moment but will be returning to work once the litte one starts pre-school :)

I have been WDW twice, and have been Disneyland Paris 3 times already this year and will be going back in September. I regularly post on the DLP board and UK community and i lurk here now and then.

Its nice to be able to find so many people who share the same love for Disney that i do :)

Hey, I'm Steven and I'm 26. This will be the 3rd post from someone who lives in SC, I think. I've been married to my DW for 2 years tomorrow! I work at a public accounting office, and have taken and passed 3 sections of the CPA exam. I am taking my 4th and final section this Friday! I am actually taking a study break right now, and do believe my brain is three quarter fried. I post everyone once and again, but rarely on the community board.

I find it best if I do not read any threads about Jesus/Religion/Christianity. I am very strong in my faith, but do understand not everyone has the same beliefs as me.

I first came here when searching for information about our first WDW trip w/o my parents in 2004. I would be paying, and wanted to maximize my dollars. I like to read the theme park, budget, and resorts boards.

Hello all,

I am Linda, originally from southern NH, now a tax refugee living in the northern part of the state. I spent eight years in the Air Force after high school and during that time was lucky enough to be stationed in southern California. There I discovered what every poor kid growing up in NH during the 60's dreamed of - Disneyland! I was an instant addict. After leaving the service I returned home, spent a few years working as a software engineer at a nuclear power plant. And discovered WDW - my first trip there was with my mother! Took a year off when DD was born, went back to the power plant and just coudn't deal with the hours, especially since DH worked there too. During outages it was just impossible to coordinate child care. So I quit my job, intending to work for a year or two as a secretary or something that wouldn't have much responsibility or require a lot of extra time. When DD was older the plan was that I would return to school. I went to work for a financial planning firm and within a year I was back in school - studying for my Certified Financial Planner designation. After passing the board exam, I continued working for the same company. When it was time to sell our house in southern NH when DH retired (couldn't afford the property taxes) and build our retirement home up north, I negotiated a telecommuting arrangement. I work from home two or three days a week and head to the southern part of the state the other days. I stay with relatives in southern NH when I have to. DD is a junior in high school now and we are up to three Disney trips per year. Or at least that is DH's plan. Our one splurge since his retirement was a couple of add on contracts for our DVC membership. I found the Dis when I was planning our second or third trip, a long time ago. I've gotten a lot of valuable information here over the years. I don't post all that much (probably more now that I work from home) but I read a lot.

Its nice to read a little bit about everyone else too. Great topic Slo!

I'm hoping to have more DISers introduce themself today

Good Morning!
My name is Sharlon and I've been on the Dis since 2003, I believe. My first few years of posting were primarily for planning or just to read up on park related information. Well, after returning from a trip in 2006, I visited the Budget Board and saw a post by Ty Pennington! I was like :confused3 . Turns out it was Extreme WPASADI, and I was sucked in. Met a great girl on my team who introduced me to some of her friends. Long story short, I now hang out on the Community Board. I post primarily in one thread, but often lurk and read.

Now for specifics, I am a 37 yr old SAHM from the Asheville, NC area. DH is my Prince Charming, and we have 3 kids, DD11, DD9, and DS2. I will be homeschooling DD9 in the fall, which, I am afraid, will greatly infringe on my Dis time. :scared1:

As for Disney trips, first one was in '73 when I was not quite 2. I got lost in the park on that trip. I like to say I've been lost in the magic ever since. Have had a ridiculous number of trips since, with most recent being last week. I left the family at home and met my sister at Pop.

My name is Nancy and I AM CANADIAN ( lame joke for my fellow canuks).
I am a SAHM to 3 darling kids ( 2 girls as in 2 belles) I took this screen name before I had my 3rd a boy. My oldest is 9 and 3/4's and has been to WDW 10 times. My youngest is 2 and 3/4's and our up coming trip will be his 3rd!

:cool1: Nancy
