Since there are a few people here who want to make me the villian in all this I will just say a few things, add a few links and then walk away from this particular thread.
Yes I am very excited about Member Homecoming. We did the member cruise and it was fanttastic. I expect this to be much the same way. No it isn't free, yes it is a lot of money. My DH and I work very hard for our money too and how we enjoy it is up to us. I find paying large sums of money to spend a day walking around chasing a little white ball to be a rip-off but I wouldn't blast someone who wants to do it if that is what brings them joy.
No I do not walk around with Disney colored glasses. I do try to always see the glass as half-full. If that is wrong so be it.
Now for the links and why my dander gets up when certain posters try to take a positive thing like Member Homecoming and turn it ugly.
BOYCOTT the
DVC Member Cruise
I withdraw my BOYCOTT vote!
So who's going on the DVC Cruise in 2/2003
Don't know what to do!!!! Member Cruise!!!!!
Ok if you read any of these you will see that a few of the same people being negative about Member Homecoming were also very negative about the Member Cruise. I didn't appreciate being called a "Sucker" because I was going on it. Just as I don't appreciate being told I'm being "ripped-off" for going to Member Homecoming. What made it worse though was that I was told on the cruise by some DIS members I talked to that they were afraid to even post about the cruise because of the negative feedback the rest of us were getting. How sad is that.
Bottom line we did the cruise and had a wonderful time. Yes it was special. Disney,
DCL, and DVC went out of their way to make it special. Did it cost us a little more (points). Yes. Was it worth it. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bottom line we are doing Member Homecoming. Will it be special - I expect it will. Is it costiing us money? Yes. Will it be worth it? My heart tells me yes.
As I said in an earlier post on this thread - no matter what I say the nay-sayers won't change their minds and I won't change mine. I just thought it was time that some people knew a little history.
I'm really glad that these nay-sayers love their DVC - no one every said they didn't. I just wish they would let us love it and enjoy it the way we want to.
