Just wanted to let you know that we DID get the call from inventory control with the suite and date that we were looking for in 2010. I'm surprised, thrilled and mortified all at the same time. I didn't think they were honoring the faxes that had been sent in, and can't believe we got our cat. 1 request for the date we asked for. The mortification comes from the price. We have until the 17th to make our deposit so hubby and I will be doing some talking, he says no way and I say what are the chances we'll get cat. 1 again?? I've gotta say though, although we can afford it, I don't think the price is indicative of the value. I've got some thinking to do over the next day or so. For $20000+ I can quite comfortably take my kids on an extended vacation.

Lots to consider.

Not to get into a husband and wife discussion but I will say that we had the Cat 1 on the Med cruise and it was incredible. You just don't realize what you have until you are standing in such a grand place with so much Disney history. We had the Walt suite and you just felt like you were experiencing his life and his love of cruising. Having breakfast in the room at your own dining room table before you start the day and all the special perks that concierge provides is well worth the money in my opinion. We have it again for the June 12 Northern Europe cruise and can't wait. We are happy to pay the money because we know what we are getting. To us, it is worth every penny but we have been blessed with much so it isn't a bank buster. I am not trying to take sides. I am just stating that it is an incredible experience and for us, we have adult children and would need two rooms anyway. When you price 2 cat 5 rooms for the cruise, you find that what you get-over 1000 square feet of elegance and unsurpassed service- for the same money as two 300 square foot rooms the decision for us was a no brainer. I wish both of you the best in your discussions. Everyones circumstances and desires are different.

One of our cruisers for the WB PC Repo was offered the chance to book the Walt for the sum of approx $25,000. She chose to stay in the two cabins she had originally booked... & she had a great time!!! (and saved her kids college fund...)

We told her we'd forgive her for the party we were planning on having in her suite... :rotfl:

Nope IC is just the same, we never recieved anything, even though we'd faxed in years ago.....

No kidding !!!!! Having a son in his freshman year at college I hear that!

Sometimes I think about the $$ we have spent on our cruises (and staying in suites) could have gone here or there, especially while writing out all those college expense checks! But the memories are sweet and so well worth EVERY dollar.

We also had the same amazing experiences when we were not in a suite. :)

My girlfriend has a fax into IC. When she told me she wanted to take her 3 daughters on DCL cruise....I immediately gave her the fax number not knowing if it would work out for her. She's still waiting, so this is great news!

My husband sent a fax in on 9/17 and we got a call yesterday for a midship Cat 3 on the 7/6 Baltic. We checked our reservation online last night and it was booked on 10/2.

We were (and still are) really hoping for a Cat 1 or 2 cause even with the Cat 3, we still need 2 rooms. The Cat 1/2 would save us about $6K from what we're paying at the moment. We have 2 Cat 4s booked, which we did before we got the IC call, but they are aft and the Cat 3 is 8534. We'd really like to be at least near each other if we have to do the 2 rooms, so it's not quite ideal. But like 3TimeCruiser said, we just can't turn down the suite. We were in a Cat 2 for the 5 night Magic in September and it was soooooo nice and we can't imagine going back to a Cat 4 now. Not that it would be so bad, but we loved having the space to hang out in the room while the kids were asleep without worrying about waking them up. Plus with 3 tvs, the kids could watch a movie before bed, I could watch something, and my husband could watch that stupid loop on the drydock renovations. ;)

Dragonfly, what cruise is your Cat 1 for? If it's 7/6 and you don't want it, tell them to send it to me!

It was crazy, he could watch that thing nonstop! And we sailed during Hurricane Hanna, so the night the ship was thrashing around and everyone woke up, he turns on the tv and guess what's on? Yes, even at 4am that drydock loop was running!

Yes, IC is alive and well. For us, at least. They called my TA the day after the bookings open.

I only wish that they would call BEFORE the the bookings open. They used to in the past.

But now we have those few days of worrying about whether or not they are going to honor our request and in our panic we call ourselves and make a booking just to secure any stateroom.

As well all know, all that does is drive up the prices for everyone else.

Good luck to everyone else who sent in faxes. It does seem to be hit and miss for some people who don't get the call yet did send in a fax.

Hey, what's wrong with watching the drydock video;) :)

Bill

I see you're sailing to Northern Europe. Is itthe 7/6 sailing by chance? You would make a great pair!
