Anyone here watching this? The accent is driving me nuts. Interesting premise though.

I started watching it because I love the lead on Ozark. It didn’t keep my attention for long. I ended up switching over and watching CODA on Apple plus, which was amazing. One of the best movies I’ve watched in awhile.

The accent is very similar to the real Anna’s accent. You can watch interviews with her on YouTube to see. Being a fake it is not surprising that she had a fake accent. The actress did a good job imitating it.

Yes, it is a German- Russian hybrid.

I've watched the whole thing really enjoyed it and thought the cast was excellent. The accent sounded more like a speech impediment to me.

The accent is certainly dramatized, but then - it is a dramatization. Anna's real accent does have that Russian-born/German citizen/somehow also a valley girl quality. Hers isn't anywhere near as stark, but that's because she isn't having to imitate it.

I knew about Anna years ago from the article that serves as the backbone for the show, and I still find it incredibly wild that she managed what she did. I think the show did a good job characterizing everyone as well. As in real life, nothing is black and white. No one is entirely guilty, no one is entirely innocent.

My oldest & I binge watched it last weekend. We both loved it.

I tried, but only made it two episodes in. (And I wanted to like it, because I like the actress who plays the reporter.) It might have been partly to do with the exaggerated accent, but the other chararacter just seemed over all creepy to me. The show felt stressful instead of relaxing, so I turned it off.

I remember this story coming out and was fascinated then. Watching on Netflix now and loving it. Yes, that accent is beyond bearable but the actress has nailed it in relation to the real Anna.
Uncomprehensible Anna is NOT still behind bars.
