Just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. I joined up yesterday after poking around on the resort and tips boards for a few months. Not new to bulletin boards in general, but new to this one.
I'm Jim, 35, married with 2 girls and we're planning a blow out trip this Dec for MVMCP.
There have been some incredibly nice people on here and I just wanted to say thanks for all the warm welcomes so far :thumbsup2 . I can see myself getting really addicted to this place.
Now about this "The Bar is Open" place. At what time each day can I expect the drinks to be served? :rotfl:

Welcome Jim!!! As far as I know you can get a drink 24/7 at the bar.

Its true, you are an Evil Genius :thumbsup2

Welcome, Jim!

So tell us about this blowout MVMCP trip. When are you going, where are you staying? We're all very nosey about WDW trips around here. :teeth:

Welcome Jim! I hope you have a comfortable chair cause your going to need it.

Welcome Jim. I had great fun reading some of your posts yesterday! We are also planning a trip in Dec! I can't wait! :cool1:

December 16th -23rd (everyone wants to be home for Christmas). Right now we have reservations for the Wilderness Lodge. It looks amazing. We havent been to Disney in years. Not since the girls were small. This is our first onsite stay so I'm pretty stoked. Christmas is my favorite time of year so when I discovered all the decorations and the party and all, I decided this was the way to go. We're spluging and getting the girls a seperate room. Our 17th anniversary is in November so we're kind of celebrating that too.
We thought about a cruise, but decided this would be more fun. Any suggestions from anyone?

We were there at Christmas for two weeks in 2004. You picked the right week to be there--it starts getting really crazy on the 24th. :teeth: Our first week was busy but very manageable. Just make your dining reservations before you leave so you'll have a place to eat!

The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful at Christmas. We didn't stay there but went over for dinner at Whispering Canyon.

I hope you have a great trip!

Wow, we will be at the CR Dec 18-24! We went in 2004 the 20-24the and it wasn't too bad. Just remember to pack everything from mittens to shorts! LOL When we arrived the wind chill was in the low 30's at night! By the end of the trip we were in shorts and managed to get in the pool. I loved being there around Christmas. I am thinking of going to the MVMCP on the 19th.

Quick question. I've read on some of the other boards that disney had lowered the temp in some of the pools? Does anyone know if thats correct? We really wanted to swim but I am not gonna freeze my behind off to do it.
Lyeag, I'm really hoping for reasonable crowds and nice weather. Cool doesn't bother me but I can't stand 100 degree days. That was another perk of picking December.

I don't know what it was like last December but in 2004, it was below 40 degrees when we were there. Not exactly swimming weather. :teeth: In fact, it was more like mitten and heavy winter coat weather. And I'm from Michigan. :lmao:

Welcome! :cool1:

You'll have a blast here. Great info to be found here! :thumbsup2

:welcome: Jimmy!

December's the best time to go, IMO. Be sure to check out the Grand Flo, AKL, & of course you'll see plenty of the Wilderness Lodge. Everything is gorgeous that time of year!

Hi Jim!!! :sunny:

I don't know about December, but we were in DW late last October and it was way too cold for swimming. Not that there weren't people doing it anyway. That was right after the hurricane blew through so I think that might have been a factor. The pool at WL is awesome, by the way.

Have a great trip! :Pinkbounc

Welcome Jimbo!!!!!

Here, have a box of wine!

We usually stay at the Beach Club in May and October. I haven't been down for the Christmas decorations yet, but would love to - my birthday is in December!

Welcome :dance3:

We were in Beach Club in very late Dec. 2003 - swimming was fine. Temps were in the mid 60s to low 70s our entire trip. The thing is that temps can widely vary that time of year - one day can be sunny in the 70s, the next could be rainy in the 50s.
