Can somebody tell me if there are any cake options other than the round two tiered with Minnie and Mickey on it?

Thanks!

The round two-tiered cake comes with the package.

I'm sure if you want something else, Disney will accommodate you...for a price.

Have you contacted Disney yet? Ask your SM about upgrades and costs.

DIsney and I are playing a serious game of phone tag - and its getting very frustrating! I'm yet to be able to make contact with an SM,EM, or ET for that matter!

sometimes it can be difficult to get the ball rolling...when are you planning to have your ceremony?

You can upgrade your intimate cake through your EM. If you provide an image of the design you are interested in, your EM will talk to the bakery team at the Grand and email you the quote. You can then decide if you wish to pay for the upgrade or adjust the design. Good luck! =)

We upgraded our Intimate cake. It was exactly what I wanted and I was thrilled. I wanted a square cake with edible flowers on top and cascading down, I sent the request to my EM and a couple pictures of what I was going for, and it was just perfect! It cost an extra $265 but it was worth it. They gave us the Mickey and Minnie figurine in a box, which was perfect too :goodvibes

I was going to upgrade my cake to the under the sea theme that is on the customs wishbook, but they would have charged an extra $400 and I didnt think it was worth it for just a small party.
I stayed with the minnie & mickey cake and was thrilled. It was very fancily done. I thought it was going to be a little plain & boring, but it wasn't.
It was certainly the best cake I ever had too. Mine was chocolate with chocolate mousse filling. YUM!

Whether or not you can upgrade your cake depends on the weather or time of day you call, or some other stupid obscure reasoning. Some brides have been able to do this and others haven't. I was told no, but it was suggested to me that I could do a 'special occasion' cake though at my dinner. So that's what I did. I had the YC bakery make the Mickey head cake I wanted, to be served at my dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. It was waiting at our table when we arrived, and then we did another cake cutting after dinner. Even if they decide to allow you to upgrade the cake you may wanna call the bakery at the hotel your having your dinner and get a quote for a second cake to see how they compair. We ended up with 4 layers of cake, in 4 different flavors, for around what JandJ quoted for her upgrade. So it's always worth checking.

If you want a different design other than the standard intimate cake, then your EM will check with the bakery. Anything other than the standard cake crosses over into a "custom" cake. The bakery will take the design choice, multiply it by the guest count, and subtract the standard cake fee. The standard intimate cake should serve 30, not including the top tier which is saved for the anniversary. Some cakes will require more servings as a base count due to the design choice (i.e. squares over rounds, cake choice proportions indicated in a guest provided picture, etc.). Each case is different.

Please keep in mind these points only apply to the Grand Floridian receptions. Other resorts do the intimate cakes, but are not equiped to do the custom designs. The Grand bakery supplies almost all of the served custom cakes across property.

A couple of weeks ago we decided on a different cake. I totally fell in love with Mickey's Delight, but I didn't need a cake that served over 50 people and I didn't want to add $400 into the budget. I talked with my EM and we found the perfect solution. Apparently, there is a smaller Mickey's Delight. They use the same base as the "standard" (I hate to call it that, because it's beautiful) Intimate, so it's a 2 tier, round and they cover it in fondant and stamp it with the silver Mickey's. The best part is, they'll credit the standard Intimate cake towards this one and it will probably cost us $100 - $200 (at the very most) extra. I think she did try to stress to me that this is possible because I'm a WP bride and the custom cakes come from the GF bakery. Moral of the story, talk with your coordinator and hopefully they'll be able to accommodate you.

engagedatWDW - That sounds really lovely. I am wondering whether or not to upgrade mine now! I wasn’t going to as we are having a formal wedding reception at home in the UK and have paid £500 for a four tier cake with Cinderella castle on the top (thought it would remind people where we actually got married!) But listening to what you have said, that sounds a reasonable price for an upgrade - I think about £70 - £150 in sterling. Also does anyone know if you are having an intimate can you have a different flavour cake for each tier? Thanks x

I wonder if there was a change or something because I was not a WP or GF bride, I was a WL Intimate, and I got a custom cake no problem. Well, $265 but that wasn't a problem for my dream cake!

She didn't come right out and say it, but I did get the impression that this was a change. Or maybe I was supposed to get the hint not to go sharing with everyone on DIS :rotfl:

Every wedding is different, so I would just ask - give them ideas of what you want and see what they can do.
