Any gals that had a traditional reception at home - did you go all out with invitations, flowers, etc.? I am ordering my invitations this week - they are full blown Cinderella with the coach, and I am requesting different wording to announce our marriage and the party. Is it customary for this sort of thing now, or do people get angry that they were not invited to the wedding? I assume that guests treat the reception as any other - gifts and stuff? Snobby questions I guess.. had to ask!! :-) Any thoughts/stories?

We're doing an at-home reception as well. We chose a less expensive hotel because of the actual wedding costs. The package includes centerpieces and a cake. I'll probably just have a toss bouquet made, and have no other flowers.

As for invites, I am having different wording annoucing that we'll be married on such and such a date at WDW. Most people already know what we're doing and a fine with it, but I just wanted to make it clear so they don't think we've changed plans or whatnot. As usual, we'll do favors for the at-home.

We're doing an at home reception just as if we were having a typical wedding reception - the cake (mad hatter - yay!), the DJ, the flowers (well - we're making feather centerpieces), the linens, everything. It's going to be a buffet, and we got a really great price for it, with tons of food and an open bar. I'm wearing my dress (I love an excuse to wear my dress again!!:cool1: ), DF and groomsmen are wearing their tuxes, and the bridesmaids will be wearing their dresses. I figured, since most of the people don't usually go to the ceremony anyway, this shouldn't be too much different than having a typical wedding at home! That's my rationalization - and I'm stickin to it!

Hey guys!!! We are having an at-home reception also. Can anyone give me some ideas of how you worded your invites? We need to get ours done ASAP!! Our party is in 2 months... We were just married in WDW in December. :goodvibes We are still on cloud 9. :cloud9:

Ours was worded like this..

Ms. ...........
&
Mr............
Will be married in a private wedding ceremony
At Walt Disney World in Orlando,
Florida on Tuesday, the Fourteenth of
November, two thousand and six

You are joyfully invited to an informal indoor
wedding celebration after the wedding on
Saturday, the Second of December,
At Six-Thirty in the evening

Place
Address
City, State Zip

They have the 'do it yourself' kits at walmart and they were on sale- 5 dollars for a pack of 50... we printed them out ourselves-- saved lots of money this way-- they still looked as formal as ever- no one even knew that we didnt get them ordered from a big name company. (FYI: The kit also comes with smaller cards you can use for RSVP's or meal selections).

Thank you! I have been trying to figure this out too. We are having a fun casual picnic. Kinda Mad Hatter. Just silli and fun.

first off, congrats to all! my sweetheart and I are getting married Halloween of this year at a New Jersey B&B - we rented out the whole Inn overnight and are having 26 family attend (trick or treating afterwards!)...then 3 days later we are having a wedding luncheon celebration...some of our wedding guests will be there but that's ok! I just ordered my favors, photo placecards, and custom Nightmare champagne flutes...can't wait! as far as wording, this is what we came up with so far..

the front of the invite has a cake and the words 'I Do"

inside it will say :

"with this ring, I ask you to be mine" We did!

We would be delighted if you would join us for a luncheon reception to celebrate our marriage...

still working out the rest

I have one question for the rest of you...are you doing real or silk flowers? we are opting for silk for our bridal party since this way we will be able to use them for the wedding and the luncheon ( days later) and keep them for memories....but I may go for real for the tables at the luncheon...still researching.

it's lots of fun to read about everyone else's plans - keep them coming!

Michelle:goodvibes
