Intial DVC Package Problem

All,

We pulled the trigger on DVC finally this past Saturday. The package arrived at our house yesterday. I have been trying to get a hold of our guide since Sunday and figured he was not returning my call as the questions would likely be answered in the package. Well the package came and it did answer some of the questions. However there is a new item I would like some assistance on.

During the process it was always mentioned that there is a 10% downpayment. When I signed up on Friday I provided them with my credit card and it was charged for 10%. Then what I got my package it is indicating that additional deposit money is due. The amount is strange, $1280. I bought 160 AKV points at the 104 rate and took the developer point option and not the discount. Has anyone taken the developer point option and gotten this additional deposit requirement. The amount happens to be 4 times the developer points of 320 points, but that may be a coincidence.

I am disappointed that the guide is not calling me back and don't know how to proceed. Should I call Disney and ask to speak with a supervisor? This is an unexpected and not communicated cost item that will affect our decision to go forward.

Thanks

Hi!

There should be a number on your package to call if you have any questions. Call that number and ask what is going on. It might be a mistake of some sort. Let us know what is going on.

It may have to do with the $8 incentive not used. Why I say this is because if you divide $1280 by 160 (points) it equals $8 per point?
How much was your 10% downpayment? It should have been $1664.00. The other $1280.00 is basically the $8 incentive you opted not to use, but chose developer points. So basically you paid $1280.00 for 320 points = $4 per point. I would keep calling to find out for sure. Does your contract say the $1280.00 will be charged along with your initial 10% down payment?

Yea, I was posting on another thread and realized that the 1280 was equal to the $8.00 discount. The paperwork reflects the 1664 downpayment, and is just indicating that an additional down payment is required. It has a due date of 8/14/07 for "Final Down Payment", which is strange since the paperwork has to be returned within 7 days and it states on the reminder paperwork that there is a balance due on my down payment.

I am going to call the "Quality Assurance Managers" number on the paperwork this morning as it appears that my guide has chosen not to give me a call back. Very Disappointing initial DVC experience.

It may be that your guide is out of town, or has been assigned to a cruise (they are on a rotation.) Since this is a fairly urgent question, I agree, call Quality Assurance.

I just got off of the phone with Quality Assurance. It was not clear where this was coming from, but when I mentioned that the amount happened to be the same as the cash discount amount he kind of agreed that when the guide processed the transaction it some how applied the cash discount, but wanted to get it from me since it wasn't coming from me.

The resolution was that they are going to re-issue paperwork which will correct the error and re-set all othe monies. So, I am back to the beginning. I now have to wait for possible new member numbers and some other complications that my close will now be after my first desired reservation date.

Thanks for the assistance.

If your Guide is out of town or on a cruise their voice mail should tell you who to contact. If it doesn't, I would call your Guides Manager. I don't feel that the Guides job ends at the sale. They are my DVC contact and I expect their support until the deal is done. :thumbsup2
