Interval International Question

I have a very few banked points that will expire Jan 30, 2026. I cannot use them on a DVC reservation before they expire. I know that if I transfer them to II, they will be good for 2 years. I also know that I can't do anything with these points in II, so unless I transfer in more DVC points at some later date, I may lose the few pts anyway. My thinking is transfer the points to II. Although I don't plan to be in this position with more points in the future, one never knows. I could have more leftover banked points at which point there might be enough in II for something......
Am I overthinking this? What are the drawbacks to transferring only a handful of points to II (besides the fact that they can't be useful unless more points are added)?
I never used II so really don't know if it is worth it or if I should just let the points go.

I have owned DVC for 15 years, and this only happened one other time - I think I had 1 or 2 points that expired after banking them.

Thoughts?

The only other option is to rent them---and that might be worth trying for a couple of weeks before the 45 day limit comes up. But, you may have to borrow to augment them, and you might not want to do that.

Otherwise, there's really no harm in throwing them at Interval and letting them expire there two years later.

I looked at this recently as I purchased a resale contract that had 2 points left and would expire shortly after I got the points in my account. I don't think there is any real downside other than the fact that the points transfer can never be undone. I did learn that you have to do it 45 days before the end of your UY. Should you ever decide to use them to book something, there is a fee ($99, as I recall), but you don't have to pay that to just deposit them into II.

Only other option since you have some time would be if it is enough points to book a night somewhere (assuming you can find a night between now and Jan 30th). You could borrow if needed to book the night and rent it out as a confirmed reservation. Of course, then you risk it not renting, but if you get 45 days out from Jan 30th, could throw them into II then. Just a thought. If just a couple of points, probably not worth the trouble.

Thank you all. I don't think I want to use 6-8 borrowed points to save only 2, but thinking about this option.
I think I will transfer them to II. I still may never use them, but if I get stuck with points again in the next two years, maybe.

Put them up for transfer for a dirt cheap amount. I'm sure someone out there could use 6-8 points! :cheer2:

I agree there’s no downside in transferring them to interval though. You never know, maybe you end up in a weird position with another cancelled reservation in the next two years and you end up with enough points in interval to actually book something. There’s no downside since they’ll expire anyway.

If you haven’t already bought one time use points you could do that if you have enough time to get back down for a short trip Studios in the summer at old Key West are like 10 points giving you two nights

lol, not that I personally ever need an excuse to try to book an extra Disney trip, but that is throwing a lot of money and effort to not lose $40 worth of DVC points.

very true but at least this way you would no for sure they are used. Obviously it is best if someone is somewhat local but still an option nonetheless.
