Being in the UK, if we were to swap out to go somewhere, then we'd rather go for 2 weeks as we'll obviously have a long flight (thinking Carribean, Hawaii, USA).
I know they talk about the swaps in weeks, but just wondered if it's common (or in fact ever happens) to be able to get 2 weeks together.

Nothing planned here, just thinking ahead (probably to 2006!)

Thank you

I would start your search early and ask that the weeks be together. I wouldn't think most places would have a problem with that except the busy ones like Hawaii. Do you want to stay 2 weeks in the same place or different places? That will make a difference, also. The USA would be easier because of all the locations we can trade to. Good luck with your plans and hope it works out for you. Let us know what happens.

Start your search 2 years out, be very flexible and ask for two weeks together. Pick a general destination (like Hawaii), and say you will accept trades to two different Hawaii destinations on consecutive weeks, and leave the time totally open. My guess is you will get something.

2 weeks together is a tough deal. As a general rule, I'd say that anything worth trading DVC for will not be sitting in the II bank with back to back weeks. I'd say decide what you want then ask for everything that fits. Try to get the higher demand week first. Also book a cancellable week to match what you have. Once you accept an exchange the cancellation rules are harsh so be sure before you accept anything. Exchanging does take a gamblers mentality and at times, nerves of steel.

Thank you all of you, to be honest I hadn't even thought of changing resort halfway through (d'oh) which makes sense.

We'll plan early when we do start seriously thinking about it then :)

I know when we do go for it, the chances are that we'll be really flexible as they'll be so many places that we want to go to!

I've traded two weeks together with II before into the same Marriott for two weeks. It was great. You may have to change rooms, but not always. Put in your request early and let the II reservationist know what you are looking for.
