Interval Getaway weeks in Orlando Area- Can we book?

Just clarifying:

Most owners with other timeshare companies have to pay an annual Interval fee, correct? But with DVC we get Interval Gold included with our membership?

I realize I should visit the TUG forums but don't want to go down a rabbit hole.

Correct.

...or Williamsburg, Branson, and maybe Las Vegas.

(I'll take Places Where Timesahares Are Overbuilt for $600.)

Relatedly, guess where people recommend buying Marriott traders because they are cheap? Las Vegas and Orlando.
But wouldn't they have low trading value?

Marriott resorts have preference for booking other Marriott resorts in II, regardless of the Marriott being deposited. Based on what I see in the TUG members-only Sightings forum, Marriott resorts seem to have better access (higher trading power) to many other resorts too, although II is opaque in that regard.

PS Marriott owns II, just as Wyndham owns RCI. At least RCI will tell you what your resort is worth as a trade and how much another resort will cost. II doesn’t.

In general yes. That doesn’t mean specific weeks can’t do well. Spring Break or Christmas in Orlando are great at a name brand resort.

But the developers definitely missed the “don’t build a church for Easter Sunday” memo.

Thanks for this thread. I had no idea we had access to these cash bookings. I just randomly looked at Getaways for next June in Hawaii and wow some of those are crazy good deals -- like $1100 for a week.

Neat!

Do resale / “DVC-N” members get II access too or just direct / grandfathered?

I think the cash deals I get from RCI are largely the same as these II ones, but we have to pay an RCI membership on top of our (non-DVC) timeshare.

Resale get access too. I’m resale / white card only.

I find II extremely confusing, but as I understand it resale gets SOME of the II aspects, but not all. Maybe they can book timeshares but not hotels?

Possibly. But, the good news is that the hotel "exchanges" are rarely good deals.

As an aside, I just confirmed a July 4th week next year at Marriott Summit Watch in a 2BR. Summer Park City is not a hard exchange, and I would not have used DVC points on this--it would have been 240 points.

But MSW is right at the base of Main Street (lots of restaurants/shopping), across the street from the Town lift (open in summer), and an easy 15 minute walk to the base of the Mountain Village, where the adventure park is. The Canyons Village down the road a few miles has a multi-day festival the week of the 4th, which should be fun. This was with an unbranded (non-Marriott) week, so was a pretty good deal.

Finally, if you are an extreme roller coaster fan, I highly recommend the summer bobsled at Utah Olympic Park. That was intense.

They did make a change with one of the exchanges that could be done with points bought direct or resale points bight prior to 2012.

It replaced one of the options that used to exist. But the main aspect of using II is available to all.

Decent Vegas options would have been useful to me, but this is a joke. Whatever this Tahiti stuff is and Club de Soleil.

Hilton Grand Vacations has the most resorts in Vegas, but they are with RCI. You may find some Hilton Vacation Club (Polo Towers), which is former Diamond, or Marriott Grand Chateau every once in a while. The good stuff isn't always plentiful nor cheap. Beggars can't be choosers...
