Internet - Have they always charged?

Has there always been the $9.95 fee for moderate and deluxe resorts or is that new? I thought free internet was a perk of staying deluxe.

It's never been free in the last 2 years since we started bringing a laptop.

Actually now that I think about it, we brought a laptop sometimes in the 2005-2006 time frame too, and I don't think it was ever free - we always stay in deluxe resorts. We just didn't use the Internet too much back then while on vacation.

The charge is not new. I believe the only people who get internet acesss included in the price of their room are DVC Members who are staying in a DVC room on points.

2) Then, he invented Disney Internet charges.

It has never been free at WDW with the exception of DVC members staying at DVC properties on points. The price has been the same since the inception of HSIA at WDW resorts.

In general, lower end hotels/motels offer free internet access. Most deluxe/luxury resorts charge a fee.
