What sort of Internet connectivity is there at SSR? Wired, wireless, both, none? Wired minds want to know...

We used the in room wired service in June...very speedy. I'm not aware of any wireless access at SSR...though being so new it would make sense to have it.

Any idea if the computer in the (ohhh I can't remember, but it's a Disney-themed computer).. the place that has the big screen TV, PS2s and children's activities.. ARG.. can't remember!

Anyhoo.. that computer seemed "open".. wonder if you could get free internet there?

Community Hall?

It's possible...but I doubt it...only because I've read that the computers at BWV and OKW Community Hall do not have access.

It would be nice for a quick check of email, etc.

I just plan on bringing a wireless router.....got to plug something into the wired outlet.... may as well be my router, at least that way I can carry the laptop to the living or the second room and work there.

I have a question. I have tried to hook up my computer in the past at hotels. My cable didn't work in the hook-up. Is there a special cable? Their "outlet" looked like a phone outlet. I really want to have email access since my husband is deployed. Do they have cables to borrow? Thanks for the help.

What you need is a Category 5 (CAT-5) network cable. It has ends like a phone cable, only a little bigger. The wire is also bigger than telephone wire. You can get it at any computer store. You cannot use telephone cable to connect through a CAT-5 network port.

You will also need to make sure that your laptop either has a built-in LAN (Local Area Network) port or a LAN card that plugs into it. If you use your laptop at home on a DSL or Cable broadband connection, then you have everything you need. The cable from the DSL/Cable Modem to the computer is a CAT-5 cable. If you dial-up from home to connect to the Internet, you may not have the LAN port/card. Best to check with your local computer store or a knowledgable friend.

We were there in September and used a laptop all the time we were there. My daughters interface cable didn't work in this resort. It had worked the previous week at VWL though.

In calling Disney IT dept it seems that the wiring at SSR is different than standard protocall. They have cables available, for the asking. Just make sure you leave it as you will get charged for it.

There is a cost for using the internet access pt in your room and goes for something like $9.95 per 24 hrs by the clock. Not useage.

It was very good and fast.

Enjoy.
