What are the Internet packages/rates for DCL cruises? We have been on a number of DCL cruises and never had to use one. But now DH will need to stay connected to the office on our upcoming Med cruise. Thanks!

I'm not sure if rates are different in the Med. But Disney does use a data method of use, and not a time based payment system. You can find some more information HERE.

Wow, they no longer charge by the minute? That could be a plus since their speed can be very slow at times.

Yes, it's much better now that they charge by the amount of data rather than by the minute. If you sign up on the first day, you can get a 50MB package for free.

That's fantastic. And that includes using the internet in your room or around the ship on your own device?

Perfect! Thanks.

It covers using internet on your own device anywhere on the ship, including your stateroom. If you are planning to use the Navigator app, that will work off the ships wifi for free. It won't use up your data package. Make sure you turn off all auto-updates and anything that uses background data as those things will eat up your data fast. You can stop by the Connect @SEA desk to have them check your device to make sure you have the settings correct.

When I was on the Wonder Alaska.... I measured it at 24Mbps..... remember to disable updates on your phone. I lost 300mb in a few minutes when I updated my iPad by mistake. Hard lesson learned.

We used the Connect @ Sea on the British Isles cruise last week. I signed up for the 50 free MB (thanks to someone telling me ahead of time to be sure to check) and once that ran out, I got the 1000 since we were on a 12-night and I was planning to upload pictures. I buy internet data instead of souvenirs :) It is extremely important to make sure you have your airplane mode ON and you sign out of the service every time you use it. And check that it shows you logged out. We did have one time when we logged out but apparently it didn't "take" because when I checked a few hours later, we'd lost over 200 MB. I stopped by the Connect @ Sea guy the following day for him to look at it and he was able to credit the MBs back to my account (and he added some extra for me). I ended up with about 100 MB left on the last day but if he hadn't given me extra, I would have been about even.

We found the connectivity to be pretty good in the cabin, but we stay on Deck 6 near the aft elevators (on the Magic).

Several fellow cruisers were using something called SkyRoam but I didn't learn enough about it before we sailed to be able to talk about how it works, but whenever I saw them using it, they seemed happy with it.

I want to use this to do my online checkin for my airline on the day before we debark. We are flying Southwest and have a large group. Don't want to pay for Early Bird for everyone, so figured I would do this. How much do you all think I should get?

Small package, just disable background cloud apps on the device you use.

IE Automatically uploading photos on your cloud, to all your devices. Transport and news alerts. ( push notification).

Actually, if you go to the Connect at Sea desk, they usually have a computer set up with a printer to be able to help people with this. You may not need to buy a package at all. But sign up for the 50 free on the first day and that should be enough to do the check in.

Thanks so much, I will definitely do this!!
