We are staying at the VWL for the first time as DVC members in August and was wondering about internet access for a laptop. Do they have anything in the rooms?

All rooms at DVC resorts (and all WDW resorts) have a dataport on the room phone for dialup internet service. As long as you have a service provider (AOL, Netzero, Mindspring, etc.) you can find a local access number and will be charged only .35 for the call for DVC members at DVC resorts (.75 for non-members and at other WDW resorts).

Many of the resorts now have broadband service in each room. Make sure you have an ethernet card in your laptop (and a network cable) and you can connect via the room modem for $9.95 for a 24 hour period.

Enjoy!

If you don't have a cable, the front desk will supply you with one. You will be charged if you don't return it when checking out.

We just got back from BWV and used the broadband in the rooms. Worked extremely well, and was pleased with the pricing ($9.95/24hrs)

I dropped a suggestion off that they offer weekly rates (i.e., $49.95 for 7 days). I need the access daily for work to synch email/etc., and found it annoying to have to "resubscribe" every 24 hours, although in all fairness, the sign-up process is simple.

And don't forget the WiFi service in the common areas of the convention resorts.

I can't wait to post to these boards while relaxing on one of the lounge chairs at SAB!:sunny:

We did the same. LOS would be great. Our internet bill was around $200. We encountered a few problems where we were denied access. Was told it was a problem due to our res' being linked, changing rooms etc. Tech Support answered right away and got it cleared up within a minute or two. There is actually a secret "link" on the Internet Access page where you then enter a code to gain manual access. I hope people don't find a way to hack the system.
