I sell Avon as a second job, and I put my orders in over the internet. The only problem is that I am leaving for Disney on Friday and it is too early to place an order for the current catalog, so I have to find Internet access at Disney World. I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge. If anyone knows of a place where I can find internet access anywhere in the "world", it would be really helpful. Thanks!!::MinnieMo

I had recently gotten this info from the web and then checked with disney on resorts that offer high speed internet access:

Coronado SPrings
Yacht & Beach Club
Beach Club Villas
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Boardwalk
Boardwalk Villas
Saratoga Springs
Old Key West
Dolphin
Swan

Some offer Wifi around the pools.

BTW- You have to pay a ridiculous price for all the internet access at Disney... I'm not sure about Swan and Dolphin.

It's funny that most hotels, even not so nice ones, all offer free internet (wireless) now, but Disney doesn't even offer dialup in lots of their resorts.

If you have a dialup at home, I'd get the Orlando local number for your company, and just plug in your computer in your room and use it that way... Call your hotel desk and ask them, too, they might know of something else. We just decided to disconnect for most of the week (as hard as I admit it was!) but I understand with a business that you need it. That's why I wonder if Swan or Dolphin offer a business center of somesort that you can go pay by the minute and do it real quick, since they do lots of conferences.

GOOD LUCK - and post what you found!

I do a lot of traveling and don't find a lot of places yet that offer free wireless. The higher class hotels still charge for it. Disney charges for their wi fi also.

If you don't have a laptop then you will need to go to the convention hotels that have a business center. You can "rent" time at their computer.

If you do have a laptop there is dial up in resorts that don't have the high speed connections.

Can you elaborate on which resorts do not even offer dialup?

All the hotels at Disney used to offer dialup. Dialup is available now at the hotels that don't have the high speed connection.

So no worries you will at least have dialup. Not sure what the S/D hotels have.

I believe all resorts have a dataport on the phone. All you need is a regular phone line and a phone number for dial up, there's no special connection. 75 cents per local call, 35 cents for DVC members staying on points.

Have you ever even stayed in a WDW resort? EVERY WDW Resort has a dataport for a dial up connection in every room. In fact the ONLY room phones without a dataport are those in the bathrooms at some of the deluxe resorts.

BTW--for the OP, I've dialed in at every WDW resort I've ever stayed at, no problem (and that's the majority of them). I've also used high speed at BWV and BCV. If you have a laptop, get a local phone number to dial in from WDW, or an 800 number to dial in from. If you do'nt have a laptop, then you can use the computers in the business centers for a fee... $10 for 15 minutes. Those business centers are located at the GF, CR, BWI, YC, and CSR. There is also a business center at the Swan/Dolphin, and I understand their charges are the same.

If you have a car, Kinko's is a short drive and has lower fees.

Is it possible for someone else to place your order for you--your district manager or a trusted friend or relative?

The S/D have high speed in the rooms. I believe it's free.

If you've got a laptop and are really only going to use it to place your orders, just get a free Juno/Netzero account. They give you 10 hours free a month and you can then use the dial-ups at WL to connect.

When you register with Juno/Netzero, just use the resort's address and phone number, that way you'll automatically get a list of local numbers to use in Orlando.

This is what I do everytime I travel. The only price I pay is the price of the local call charge (.75 cents at WDW).

The wi-fi access at the GF does not work at either pool, though they tell you it will. We were there with a convention in May and no one's laptop worked at the pool. We were back at the GF in June and had a room in the main building so we thought maybe we could use wireless from the room since it works in the lobby, but unless we kept the room door open and sat on the floor next to the door, wireless did not work in the room. Regular high speed internet in the room was $9.95/day and same with wireless (and I think $4.95/hour).

I think you can read my original post and see that I have stayed at a WDW resort, not sure what that comment was for...

WHen I was thinking dialup, I was thinking of the highspeed stuff, I did mention in the post to the OP that she can find her local number for her ISP and dialup in her room. You can do that anywhere...

And I've stayed in 5 diff hotels in the past 2 months, and every single one of them offered FREE wireless internet. I was going off my recent exp's in hotels. And these were not so nice hotels and nicer hotels... No need to get panties in a wad, just a funny observation that our family/friends made on our last WDW trip (that DISNEY doesn't offer free wireless, but so many others do).

But I have confident things will change in the future =) Technology moves faster then people can often keep up.

I didn't even think about Kinkos, that's a good idea! I was thinking library too, but you often have to have a card to use that...

Hi speed and dialup are NOT the same thing. Not even close.

I've also stayed in five hotels in the past few months, everything from a Hampton Inn to a Fairmont, it's about 50/50 for free vs. pay Internet connections. The "quality" of hotel doesn't seem to matter.

I travel several times per month on business. I try to stay at hotels that have high speed access (wired or wireless, doesn't matter). The going rate seems to be $10 per day. A majority of the time it is not free. Courtyard by Marriott usually offers High Speed for free.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. I found that usually the pay service works better/faster than the free high speed access. I don't mind paying if I get better performance. Of course, free is always nice, if it works.

Marriott hotels charge for high speed while the lower cost Courtyard and Fairfield don't charge. There is a reason they do it this way.

There is a reason they do it this way.

What is that reason? I know it's a bit off topic, but I'm just curious. When looking for hotels for our family and friends to stay at for our wedding in NJ, we found that most hotels that offered wireless high speed connections were free. The ones where you had to use a 'wire' almost always charged a fee. Most of our family chose the Courtyard, which as you mentioned has free wireless. We live in a condo building in DC owned by the Ritz-Carlton, and in the last resident newsletter they wrote an article about how they had just wired all of their resorts for high-speed internet and now the new thing is wi-fi. Oh well, I guess things like that will happen.

Hi speed and dialup are NOT the same thing. Not even close.
I think that is what she was pointing out, that she made a mistake when she said dialup. No need to be aggressive.

DISNEY QUEST!!!! When we were in WDW there in Feb I was to log onto the Disboards and post about my trip. I think the computers time-out in 30 minutes this way giving other people turns at the computers.

where in Disneyquest can you access a computer with internet access? Also - is there a printer available? I love to check in online for my flights and was always searching for a way to do it for the return trip from DW! Any info appreciated.

The Swan and Dolphin does not give free high speed internet access. There is a 10.00 a day resort fee that includes coffee, newspaper, and High Speed Internet Access. So, its a better deal at S or D, but not hat much.
