International Driving Permit -Do I need one

Sorry, I know this has been covered before. I didn't think I needed one then my sister in law said she heard Martin Lewis on the radio saying that you need to check if you need one for US and she is worried now as we haven't got one.
We have car hire with Hertz and going on Monday so I thought I would check with all the experts here!

100% not required if you have a DL in English.
I believe Martin Lewis was on TV giving out some info on the subject but I did not see it so can't comment if he was correct or not. Going by the threads on other forums I guess he put doubt in peoples minds again. He should stick to money saving tips instead of travel advise Although its Simon Calder that winds me up http://www.simoncalder.co.uk/ he talks utter rubbish at times and he is supposed to be a travel journalist.

As others have said, provided you have a Driving Licence in English then definitely not needed. We're in Orlando just now and picked up our hired car without any problem.

You don`t need one. I picked my car up from Hertz no problem.
