My DH has asked me to ask you on behalf of someone where he works (!) who is currently booked into the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive, but has been put off by some poor reviews of the place.

Can anyone recommend another similarly priced hotel in the area? Or can you help me and DH reassure this person that the Wyndham is okay?!

TIA

Hi,

I stayed there quite a few years ago when it was a Marriott and enjoyed it.

It was a large resort with lots of gardens and pools and nicely decorated.

The rooms were pretty good also.

Other hotels on I Drive: The embassy suites, the doubletree castle, the doubletree resort orlando by Sea world.

Regards

TBS

Thanks for your help TBS :)

Not sure what price range they want to stick to - I will ask. Their holiday is in about two weeks!

Can they cancel what they have with 2 weeks to go? reviews have read would not put me off trying the resort if I had already paid and no refund possible. No resort in Florida is perfect, they all get bad reviews, often from other hotels trying to give them a bad name.

If they do want help there is plenty to choose from, is Idrive only option? one of our fave places to stay is here available about £34/night http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...na_Vista_at_Vista_Centre-Orlando_Florida.html

Regal Sun at DTD about £38/night http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Reviews-Regal_Sun_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

South Idrive £39/night http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Monumental_Hotel_Orlando-Orlando_Florida.html

Highly rated Blue Heron £39/night http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...-Blue_Heron_Beach_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

Not a fan of Idrive myself so not sure which are best hotels up there, if you know a good one I can get prices.
Hope that helps.

Edit just to say Wyndham was next on price list at £39/night.

Hi,

We stayed on IDrive last summer. We stayed at Springhill Suites Orlando Convention Center.
Theoretically speaking, it's on Universal Boulevard but IDrive is literally a 2 min walk through the car park.
We can't afford to stay onsite and so next time we go it's the Springhill suites that we'll be staying in again.
It was superb - the rooms were spacious and clean, breakfast was fantastic and everybody was so friendly. Admittedly the pool isn't anything special - it's just rectangular and it's not massive but it was great for when we spent the evening/afternoon at the hotel (not very often). The hotel also offered a free shuttle to the Disney parks which we found invaluable.

I would recommend to anybody :)

Thank you Wayne, that was really helpful - I know next to nothing about offsite hotels! I'll pass on that information - and your recommendation too BethEJo, thanks.

We stayed at Quality Inn plaza for 4 nights last trip and would happily go back again.

I was pricing for next year and got a price of £370 for 2 weeks accomodation next october with travelrepublic - so it is definitely at the affordable end of the market.

It's down opposite pointe orlando. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Rooms were newly renovated and had free internet and a microwave and fridge. there were 2 pool and a kids play park.

Housekeeping was excellent - room spotless and grounds well maintained.

It backs onto I4 but we had a room facing i drive and it was fine.

Just noticed Quality Inn has had a name change.

"Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando International Drive Formerly known as the Quality Inn Plaza"

Have stayed in QI Plaza - 3 times but that was early 90's...no problems
If I-Drive is a must...........I would look south of Sand Lake Road :goodvibes

That just rolls of the tongue

We are staying there next October, was happy to book there from the research i put in.

We had a week at Wyndham courtesy of Volcanic Ash :( earlier this Year. We found it pleasant enough. Very close to Sea World & Universal. Close to plenty of Restaurants. 15 mins to Disney.

Phil :)
