Here are two very interesting facts I found and thought I would post.

In Fantasia, the Sorcerer's name is Yensid, which is Disney spelled backward

The common vulgar expression, "Son of a b**ch" was first used in Disney's Lady and the Tramp.

Just thought I would share these. If anyone else has any other interesting disney facts to share it would be great to read them. Thanks.

The Oxford English Dictionary lists the first use of "SOB" in print around the year 1330. It was in common use by the 18th century.

Len....
I got those facts from www.amusingtrivia.com Guess I should have checked them out first. OH well...interesting to know it was in Lady and the Tramp

Was the phrase SOB actually used in Lady and the Tramp? It's been a while since I have seen this movie, but I think I would remember that!! If the phrase was used in the movie, how in the world did Disney get away with that? Just curious.

aladdinsgirl...not sure...just got it off the website mentioned above. I have no clue how they would get away with that one??? Of course my nephew was watching power rangers yesterday(which I think is Disney) and they said *ss...

In all Mickey Mouse cartoons, no matter which way Mickey is looking his ears are always facing forward. You never get an ear profile.

At any Disney park you'll always find that some drinking fountains come in pairs, one high and one low. The heights are just right for an adult and a child. Next time you visit, notice how the drinking spouts are so directed that when a parent and child drink together, they naturally look at each other. Thus, they can share a drink and a smile. This is just one small detail among many that makes Disney such a special place.

The money people throw into the wishing wells is all given to charity, as is the money thrown any-/everywhere in the park.

No Disney Cast member at the Disney reservation center has the same name. If there are more then two with the same then they are given a name.

Each Cast Member is to "never point". Each Cast Member when, asked a question, such as,"where's the restrooms?" is supposed to use an open palmed directional. Never pointing with one finger.

When you first approach the World Showcase lagoon, walk towards the Disney Traders shop in "Plaza Towers" (the one on the east/left). If you look towards France and Morocco, you can see the top of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror right between them. It looks like it is part of the buildings of Epcot.

The Magic Kingdom does 68 tons of laundery per day and generates 115 pounds of lint!!

On all the Disney World maps all of the parking lots are shown as green forest land and not as a parking lot.

As you walk from land to land, look down. The walkways/pavement changes as you move from one land to another.

Never pointing with one finger
They use a 2 finger point or an open palm.

Hey Dznefreek, no problem on the SOB thing. I'd actually heard a story about some railroad tycoon and a complaint from a customer about bedbugs that told me the Tramp story was probably incorrect. That, plus my SOB was one of my late grandfather's favorite expressions, and I figured he didn't pick it up from Disney. ;)

Not sure if I should admit this, but I actually use the two-finger point in real life, and I picked it up from frequent trips to WDW. It seems more refined to me. Not that I've spent a lot of time thinking about it.

Interesting!!

I am another one that "points" with the 2 fingers or an open palm. I am practicing for when I become a CM, at least I have that part down pat;)

When at WDW a few Years ago we were told by Cast Members that the three Tinkerbells are the highest paid employees at WDW.

I found two driking fountains at Walt Disney World where adult and child can "share a smile." One is inside Pirates of the Carribean, against the tile wall to the right of where the waiting line begins. The other is in front of Thunder Mountain.

I love these kind of threads, the little bits of info you do not know!! :D

The one finger point is not used because it is likened to a parent scolding a child.

I read somewhere that Walt counted his steps while eating a hot dog at Disneyland. He counted 17 steps. This is how far apart the trash cans were to be placed. Not sure if this is exactly how it came to be but I counted the steps between a couple trash cans at WDW and it was 17.::yes::

Next time you take a walk down Main Street, U.S.A. take a close look at the castle. You will notice that the "bricks" get smaller the higher up the castle goes. This technique is called forced perspective. The castle looks a little taller than it would if all the "bricks" were the same size.

In order to play the role of the beloved mouse you must be between the heights of 4'6" to 5'2". No exceptions. They also have specific height requirement for all their characters, because there is "only one " of each of them when they go off stage and come back on in a few minutes, they must be the same height.

How far apart are the trash cans? Walt Disney ate a hot dog in Disneyland and counted how many steps it took to finish it. It took him 17 steps, which is the spacing used in every Disney park today.

There's another reason why the one finger point is not used. It is because in some mid-eastern cultures, it is likened to giving someone our middle finger. And we all know how Disney doesn't like to offend!
