26,000 Pounds of Clothes Donated from the 2010 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend


Over the weekend, Disney Marathon volunteers collected more than 26,000 pounds of clothing shed by runners who layered on winter attire to keep warm along the 26-mile race route. From Epcot to Magic Kingdom, runners left behind 30,000 pieces of clothing including coats, hats, sweaters, shirts and gloves that were laundered at Disney textile services.

After being cleaned, the clothing items will be delivered to Central
Florida organizations such as Harvest Time International, Salvation
Army and Coalition for the Homeless to be shared among those in
need.

The only thing the 3 of us left on the side of the road was one head band (it really was too big for me or I probably would have kept it on too), and 3 large size trash bags LOL. I can't believer people threw off that much clothing- it was too cold and wet!
