When I called DVC MS yesterday to make reservations for DLR, they told me there was plenty of availability/rooms open at the DLH for all the way through/including Christmas Day. This means that if they are still plenty of rooms open to us DVCers, they must be at a really low capacity level. GCH actually had a couple rooms, but that was it. It will be interesting to see what the crowds are really like that week leading up to Christmas.

Indeed! Since the lower priced local AP's are all blocked out during that time, I would even venture to guess that the crowds will be somewhat lighter than normal.

I'll be interested to hear how this plays out this year. :scratchin

This subject has come up a lot. That is the same thing I have been hearing too, Nancy! At first, the AP calendar was showing lots of availability a couple of weeks ago, and I had to do a rather sudden switch from the GCH to the PPH, and there was plenty of availability for my dates, at the AP8 rate! Then, just a few days ago, I called Reservations about another issue and I point blank asked the girl if they still had a lot of openings at all three hotels, because it seemed unusual for what the hotels are like in December. The CM on the phone said that there were plenty of rooms at all three hotels still open (maybe the GCH booked up since then?). Then she tried to say it is "usually like this" in December, but I don't think that's the case at all. Last year, all the hotels were booked to the brim in December except for cancellations. I think it is a definite sign that people are staying offsite, or perhaps even going home! There have been varying reports on crowd levels - some say it's extremely crowded; others say it is sort of spotty and the crowds happen in waves; others say crowds are not bad at all. So it is definitely quite the mystery! This whole year has been kind of opposite of what it usually is during any given season, so I really have NO clue what to expect next weekend when I am there. The only thing I know for sure is that if it rains, that will keep a LOT of people away!!

Here's to hoping for managable crowds next week! We would have typically gone this weekend before spending the holiday with my family in Ohio. But, this year we decided not to go back East and my parents aren't coming to Vegas like they did last year.

So, we delayed the Disney trip until the 21st through the 25th and decided to brave the crowds. It would be a delightful Christmas miracle if they crowds aren't there the way they have been according to others who have been there during this timeframe!

All I really want from the trip is new pictures of DS with Santa at Reindeer Roundup; a ride or two on IASW and HHM, and the fireworks and parade not to get cancelled at least one night of the 5 that we will be there (last year we didn't have very good luck on the holiday trip)! As Premium APs our expectations are pretty low--we done it all before and this trip is really about family time together so that I'm not too sad about not being with my parents on Christmas for the first time ever!

It seems like a bunch of us are going to be at DLR next weekend with sort of overlapping days in our trips. I know YellowMickeyPonchos will be there, TiggerNZ will be there, 1Goofy Family, and of course, I will be there, and a few others too. I think Prettyprincessbelle just said on another thread that she was thinking about going. So this means that there will have to be other LGMH's besides mine at DLR! Last time, in October, I did not see a single LGMH, nor did anyone appear to see me. Now that we know we will all be there at the same time, or at least overlapping a day or two, we have to look for each other!:thumbsup2
