Looks like they are in the moderate category now, but the rates aren't.
They were classified as a "Home Away From Home" resort. But, that was confusing to some people, as that's what the DVC resorts are. I guess they weren't nice enough to call "Deluxe", so they're now calling them a Moderate resort. I doubt the price will change though.![]()
hmmm, a moderate at a deluxe price....sounds like disney logic to me!![]()
There seems to be a lot of anger here and I don't get it. Do you think Disney is going to let the cabins fall apart because they've "downgraded" them to moderate? Do you think they aren't going to remodel the pool (which they've apparently already planned on doing)?
As I said in the above post, the only difference this makes is that now the cabins qualify for a 20% AAA discount instead of only 15%. And honestly, the cabins are more appropriatly classified as moderates. I mean they're really a category of their own, but if they have to be either deluxe or moderate, I think mod is the more appropriate choice.
So what's all the fuss about? They don't need to lower the prices now that they're a mod, just like they didn't raise the prices just because they were a deluxe (or were they home away from home?).
I think they're priced appropriatly and I really don't care what category they're in.
they were "home away from home" which is really what they are. Their prices were and still are comparable to, at the very least, a DVC studio price, which is also considered home away from home. You get alot more in a cabin than a dvc studio, imho.
You have to factor in the number of guests per room. The cabins are one of the few rooms that will legitimately sleep 6 people. I think Disney has the prices calculated by cost per guest. EX. $180 / 6 = $30 per person. $149 / 4 = $37 per person at the POR.![]()
