Interesting things my guide told me...

I recently purchased a small, 50-point BWV contract through the Timeshare store. I haven't closed or gone through ROFR yet.

After reading on these boards that it was possible to buy the sold out resorts through Disney, I called and asked to speak to my salesperson. I had been assigned one a year ago when I requested a DVC video.

On the federal do-not-call list
Michelle MacAllister, my assigned salesperson or guide, was out, but I was assured that she would call me back the next day. She didn't, and so I called again. She apologized, but said she couldn't call me because I was on the federal "do-not-call" list. She asked me to give her my cell number, and also to visit www.dvcyes.com and request information. I was also sent a form to fill out. She said all her calls had to go through the system, which would not allow her to call my home number. Michelle later called me on my cell phone, but has yet to call me on my home phone.

On buying at sold out resorts
Michelle said it was possible to buy the sold out resorts as points come back through ROFR. She said the wait at Boardwalk was from several weeks to several months. When I mentioned that some posters on the disboards have been trying for months or years with no success to buy at Boardwalk, she said that she sought to treat everyone in a businesslike fashion, and that she believed satisfied customers would refer more business to her. Although she did not say it, I inferred that either the wait lists are a bit of a pain for the salesmen, or else there is less commission, and so some salespeople will not go out of their way to help those wishing to buy at sold out resorts.

On the Contemporary rumors
Michelle said she had heard nothing from DVC, but that it was certainly the buzz amongst cast members. I told her if it ever came into being that I would be her first customer.

And for the finale....
After a 10-day wait I was able to buy 150 points at Boardwalk Villas. I had asked for 200, but was glad to get what I could get. I’m putting 10% down and will finance the balance over 120 months at 10.75%. This is a pretty high rate, so I hope to pay it off within 12 months. I have a September use year, so I have 150 points to use or bank now, and will get 150 more in September. I enjoyed working with Michelle and would certainly recommend her.

I have the same guide and i got 150 points at the Boardwalk yesterday. Another September use year. Hi Neighbor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!

Miss -- Congratulations and thanks for sharing the info. I think Michelle should be able to call you at home now since you are "doing business with DVC". That negates the "no call list".

How odd! The do not call list means protects from telemarketers making unsolicited phone calls. In this case the customer initiated the phone call and requested to be phoned back. I would have thought that a company can respond to customers and return phone calls.

They absolutely can! My company sure does and it is perfectly legal to do so.

Disney apparently has some type of automatic system that blocks calls made to numbers on the "Do Not Call" list as a "fail-safe". It appears that they strongly prefer to err on the side of caution.

Best wishes -

Glad my Sept UY BWV points passed ROFR! I guess that I would have been on the same waitlist with Disney, had I my contract not passed a couple of weeks ago, and been one of the happy points buyers:)

I'm glad to hear that someone else likes their guide. I don't care for mine. I'll be requesting another one next time I add on:) :wizard: :cheer2:

She is also my guide and was very helpful and knows her stuff. My friends also used her and she rememberd things about them four years ago , when they bought their DVC. She knows her customers and her stuff. I would use her again and also recommend her.

Well, that may explain why I never got a call back! Although, I don't get it, because as soon as you initiate anything with a business, they are certainly allowed to call you. And since there are tons of people on that list, you'd think Disney would want to make sure they could follow up with anyone who was interested in their products. I'd think the receptionist would ask if you were part of that list if it was a problem!

I bought two add-ons thru Michelle when our guide was out on Maternity leave. She is a straight-shooter and have never known her to tell anything but the absolute truth, so the story about the return phonecall is probably factual. I imagine the "DVCyes" site takes care of the problem as that way you are opting in. Either way, I am glad things worked out for you. Welcome home neighbor!

Well they would have a hard time calling my cell too, because that number is also on the "do not call list".

Just out of curiosity, when did you get on the waitlist for BWV? We have been waiting since the 9th of february for 200 points for either aug/sept/oct. I dont know if i should start bothering my guide or what. I kinda picked the later months so i could bank the 2004 points. My guide said that would make an exception for the 6mo rule if it falls a few weeks after but would like to get the points already just to make sure

I think I went on the waitlist Feb. 8. I asked for 200 points, but made it clear that I would take 150 or probably 250. I also said any use year would be fine. So hang in there!

I got on the waitlist on February 7th, so a day or two before you. I also wanted any use year. Hang in there, boy, do I understand how tough it is. I drove my guide crazy I am sure. But she stuck with me and bore my impatience sweetly. It will come to you soon.

Last summer, CarolAnnC and I visited my guide to say hello and catch up on the latest happenings in DVC. When we got to talking about how some guides will regulary call folks to say hello and others don't, he pointed out that with the new Do-Not-Call list, DVC can not call you if you have not contacted them recently, unless they need to for business reasons. The guides, as sales people, can not just call to say hello. Now, once you contacted them first, such as you described, then they are allowed to return your calls for a specified amount of time (I seem to recall that this was a reasonably long time frame).

So, there is definitely some truth to what you were told, but she should have been able to call you since you were the initial one who contacted them and you were conducting business with them.

My guide called me after I had called her earlier in the day, and I'm on the do-not-call list.

There is no "cell phone do not call list" that was a big hoax

Ahh, but I believe there is....when the sign up time came around, we not only put our home phone numbers down, but also our cell numbers. I have a very common number and used to get alot of solictors on my cell-and on my dime!

This is somewhat off-topic, but this whole thread seems to be meandering a bit... We are in middle of closing on a BWV contract purchased through resale. One of the reasons we went resale was that DVC was/is not a liscensed real estate broker in the state of Nebraska and could not work with us on a SSR contract unless we were physically in Florida. Once the sale closes and we are full-up DVC members, will we be assigned a CM for potential add-ons, and will we be allowed at that point to do business direct with DVC? I understand there are only a handful of states where DVC is not allowed by regulation to sell direct. Anyone out there been in the same boat?

I know we are told quite clearly that any number that isn't on our "processed leads" the company provides us we have to have the number "washed" (checked) before we call it back. Even then we have to start the conversation with something like " Mr/Mrs X I am responding to the contact you initiated by leaving me a message on XXXXX" . I believe the fine for calling a "do not call" number is $10-15,000 depending on the state the call is going to, so the companies treat it VERY seriously. In our company it is an issue that can bring about instant dismissal. With that type of warning, few employees are going to make the call until they are 110% sure they have been cleared by a superior.

The do not call lists can be used for any phone (POTS or cell). The telemarketers have started calling cell numbers. As I understand it those numbers have been released by the carriers.

There are states (like mine) that has its own do not call list and do not call law. I imagine it must be easier to simply apply the most stringent restrictions of any jurisdiction across all calls.
