I recently purchased a small, 50-point BWV contract through the Timeshare store. I haven't closed or gone through ROFR yet.
After reading on these boards that it was possible to buy the sold out resorts through Disney, I called and asked to speak to my salesperson. I had been assigned one a year ago when I requested a DVC video.
On the federal do-not-call list
Michelle MacAllister, my assigned salesperson or guide, was out, but I was assured that she would call me back the next day. She didn't, and so I called again. She apologized, but said she couldn't call me because I was on the federal "do-not-call" list. She asked me to give her my cell number, and also to visit www.dvcyes.com and request information. I was also sent a form to fill out. She said all her calls had to go through the system, which would not allow her to call my home number. Michelle later called me on my cell phone, but has yet to call me on my home phone.
On buying at sold out resorts
Michelle said it was possible to buy the sold out resorts as points come back through ROFR. She said the wait at Boardwalk was from several weeks to several months. When I mentioned that some posters on the disboards have been trying for months or years with no success to buy at Boardwalk, she said that she sought to treat everyone in a businesslike fashion, and that she believed satisfied customers would refer more business to her. Although she did not say it, I inferred that either the wait lists are a bit of a pain for the salesmen, or else there is less commission, and so some salespeople will not go out of their way to help those wishing to buy at sold out resorts.
On the Contemporary rumors
Michelle said she had heard nothing from DVC, but that it was certainly the buzz amongst cast members. I told her if it ever came into being that I would be her first customer.
And for the finale....
After a 10-day wait I was able to buy 150 points at Boardwalk Villas. I had asked for 200, but was glad to get what I could get. Im putting 10% down and will finance the balance over 120 months at 10.75%. This is a pretty high rate, so I hope to pay it off within 12 months. I have a September use year, so I have 150 points to use or bank now, and will get 150 more in September. I enjoyed working with Michelle and would certainly recommend her.
