Well, my boys (7,5 and 2), my cousin (16) and I checked into the BC for a quick 3 night stay before we moved over to the CR tower. We checked in on Tuesday, June 28th at about 5:00 pm. Room was great. We unpacked, all the usual stuff you do when you check in. I unpacked my cell phone charger and digital camera charger and placed them on the desk to charge my phone and camera. The next day, we head over to AK for the day. When we get back to the room at about 3:30 I went to plug in my cell phone and noticed both my chargers were missing from the desk. I look all over the room and through all of my luggage (only 2 pieces) and they are no where to be found. :confused3

I call housekeeping and they tell me that they will look into it, but my mousekeeper would never have taken personal items. Okay, but where are my chargers? We go to dinner and I don't hear anything from housekeeping until I finally call them back at about 8:30 pm (Wed night). They tell me that they have searched everywhere and that they don't know where the charges have gone. My mousekeeper has gone home for the day and they will ask her about it when she comes back to work the next day. They offer to look in "lost and found" for some charges that will work on my phone and camera and let me borrow them. Of course, they don't have anything that works and now my phone is on it's last bar :earseek:

Did I mention that I am smack dab in the middle of a move and this phone is my only way of communicating with anyone, including my DH for about the next 3 weeks? :rotfl:

The next day (Thursday) I don't hear from anyone (again!) until I contact housekeeping at 5:00. At this point, they transfer my to "lost and found". Now listen up, this is where it gets interesting....
I am told that the previous guest called and said that they left their charges behind. Someone was then told (don't know by whom) to enter my already occupied room and removed my chargers and then mailed them to the previous guest! :scared1:

Now, I realize that Disney was trying to do something nice for a guest that felt they left something behind (which they did not). However, I did not realize that it was Disney policy to enter an already assigned and occupied room to remove personal items and send them to someone else. They never contaced me ahead of time and said "hey, can we check your room for something a previous guest left behind?" or "let's make sure these don't belong to the new guest."

This situation was frustrating to say the least. I was not offered any solution other than, "we will have to wait until the guest we sent your chargers to sends them back" (and that was not really an option, again...phone now slowly dying) until I finally complained to a manager. They purchased me a new digital camera charger right away and tried to find a phone charger. When they could not locate a phone charger in all of central Florida, they did end up buying me a new cell phone and had it delivered to my room at the CR. (Really nice phone, by the way!)

John at the front desk was very helpful once I made him aware of the situation and I am satisfied with the outcome. But, when it comes right down to it, they STOLE my chargers. All of this could have been avoided if they had just contacted me ahead of time.

Just and FYI. BTW, I have no problem staying at the BC again and am doing so in December.

That is quite a story - glad you were able to get it resolved but what a hassle in the meantime!

and, of course, by now the original guest will have found their chargers in a hidden pocket in their child's luggage and now they have a double set...Wonder if they will send the chargers back?

Wow! Big mistake on their part! But I am so glad to see they were so generous in getting the situation resolved. NICE new cell phone out of the deal, without having to get mean for it!

Guest Relations at its best again! After reading so many stories on here about unresolved issues, it is refreshing to see.

Hope that whole mess didn't get you down during your vaca, your attitude seems wonderfully mellow about it now. GOOD for you!! :flower: :flower:

Hi, Wow, what an ordeal. I am so glad it turned out ok for you due to your perseverence.

Ok, am I the only one here who does not believe Disney's excuse for the missing chargers? Just my opinion, but I believe this is the story they cooked up to cover up a staff theft in your room. I mean, come on, how coincidental is that that the only two items in the whole world you are missing happen to be the only two items "a previous guest" happen to leave there. :scratchin I think it was easier for them to come up with this bogus story than admit a staff member came into your room and stole your chargers.

I'm really happy in the end the outcome was more than satisfying, but to me, Disney's story sure stinks for raw fish.

Glad you had a magical time anyway!

Wow - what a story. I would not have been happy either. All they had to do was inform you ahead of time or at least leave a message on the phone that you could retriave stating they will/already have entered the room etc...

I am glad they did resolve that for you and came thru at the end. It just seemed that it could have been resloved before they entered the room or very shortly after.

I always wonder who does the "runs" around Florida getting equipment, food, medicine to guests. I always hear these type of stories here where Disney purchased something for a guest. What a great job that must be - on hand "driver' to pick up guest supplies when we (Disney) screw up :rotfl:

I agree with you...

To the OP, glad it worked out for you and I believe that I just read on another thread about a childs camera that was 'missing' and when questioned, it mysteriously turned up, exactly where the child left it in the room. It can happen all over, including Disney.

I agree that the story sounds fishy. Much better PR for Disney to say "Oh, sorry. We made a mistake while trying to help another guest," than to say, "Sorry someone stole your stuff!" :rotfl:

Maybe the story is true - but I would have my doubts. It's great to know that Disney made an effort to replace your things though.

Tinkerbellmagic and Maxironi,

I can believe the story.

Who'd want to steal a cell phone charger? Every cell phone come with one, and a replacement doesn't cost much.

We've stayed at the YC/BC many times and the mousekeeping personel have always been very professional.

I do think the front desk should've called before entering their room, or left a voice mail asking about the chargers.

Anyway, as usual Disney made things right.

You are all right, Disney did rectify the situation for me (as well they should ;) ). I am not sure if the story they gave me is true or not, but if it is, I believe this whole event should at least prompt an examination into Disney policy. As my DH said, "maybe we should call and say we left a stack of $50's behind and they might be in someone else's wallet, but please send them right away!" :rotfl:

Also, I didn't receive any real "help" until I made a complaint with the front desk manager. The housekeeping manager and "lost and found" were somewhat useless. I advocate to anyone who has a problem at Disney (or anywhere for that matter) to speak up, remain calm and respectful, demand respect in return, and try to keep a sense of humor.

Wow! What a story! Sorry to hear to hear the incident. I'm glad that they replaced things that was missing. So I am wondering exactly what happened to the chargers?

I would tend to believe the story since the former guest called and said they left phone chargers behind. Whoever retreived the items from the room may not have realized the difference between the two chargers (phone and camera) and thought both belonged to the former guest.

It was reassuring to hear that Disney (finally) went out of their way to rectify the situation. Also glad that the incident has not deterred you from going back. Enjoy your December trip. I'm just finishing the plans on my February trip as I write this.

Many years ago (at the Beach Club actually), I left some workout clothes in a drawer. When I got home I realized what I did and called the resort. I even told them what drawer they were in. They told me someone else was in the room now and if the items were there and the current occupants didn't say they were theirs, they would send them back to me-which they did. Now, old workout clothes are different than cell phone and camera chargers, but I think what they did was fair by checking with the current occupants of the room. They screwed up and apparently tried to fix their error, but that's a little unsettle :earsboy: ing that they would just take stuff.

Wow....if the "previous guest calling" story is true (and not a cover up for theft), that's pretty creepy, to think that they would come into your room and mail something off without checking with you.

I think the story is true and a misguided cast member thought he/she was doing someone a favor. I can think of a LOT more things that would have shown up missing than a cell phone charger and camera charger.

That being said, they still should have checked with you before removing anything from your room.

I don't think the story is made up. Honestly, even if it is Disney - any hotel where people can wander thru whether it be maintenence, housekeeping etc.. there is ALWAYS that chance that something could be stolen which is why you are not supposed to leave valuables out. Now I am not saying, I lock up my chargers - I always leave them plugged in but if Disney didn't realize the other previous occupant was receiving them courtesy of themselves and the mousekeeper denied taking them, I would be curious what they would have done :confused3

I am really glad that they fixed the problem for you.

Glad to hear that it all worked out! :sunny:

Something is fishy with Disney's store. We stayed at Pop Century from 6/18 - 6/25. Long story short we realized when we pulled into our drive after 18 hr drive to PA I left DH's keys in the room safe. I called Disney it was a Sunday and was transferred to Lost and Found. They took the info and would get back to me. They called back to say no keys were turned in but new guests were in our room and they could not go in there while they were staying there. They called them and left a message on there phone to call front desk. She advised if they would find them a manager would have to go to the room to get them. After a couple of days they did locate our keys and mailed them to us. Funny I'm told they won't enter a guests room??? But they entered your room and took stuff. I think they were covering for something. A big boo boo.
