This may be old news to some, but it was new for me so I thought I would pass it along.

I found an interesting link on the Orlando Sentinel homepage this morning. It was a pretty complete listing of Restaurant Health Reviews. You just plug in the zip code(for Disney area restaurants it is 32830) and you get a list of your favorite Disney restaurants. Read 'em, if you dare!

FYI, the second time I went to orlandosentinel.com the link was not there but I was able to find the page by typing in "Orlando restaurant inspections" in the search box". It came up first in the blue section under Restaurant Health reviews.

Thanks for the link but after reading about just one restaurant we're going too, I decided to stop. There's just something about a notation of "slime buildup on soda nozzles" that made me want to not know more. :-(

Ewww - Just remind yourself that you have eaten at these places, with these infractions and haven't ever gotten sick.

On a related note, I was watching ABC News this week and they mentioned food borne illnesses. In California instances have dropped 20% since restaurants have had to post their scores (A B or C) in the windows of the restaurants. I would like to see a similar program nationwide. I think that would help restaurants in trying harder to keep it cleaner.

They do in our state. They also include reviews in the newspaper each week and their website has an archive, much like this Lake Buena Vista one. When you read how scores were reached, you realize (in our state) that a rating of B is actually pretty darn bad. I can recall at least two times when we went through a drive-through, ordered, then decided to choose another establishment upon getting to the window and seeing the score. LOL

But you're right...I have eaten at these restaurants before and never got sick. I've decided when we go in December I won't look for violations. Ignorance can be bliss. And the food is so darn good. Mmmmmm!

Georgia just passed the law where restaurants have to have their inspection results prominently displayed. And they post the weekly inspections in the newspaper as well. I read them all the time but, quite frankly, nothing grosses me out. Restaurants standards are extremely high. If you had the same inspection done in your kitchen, you would fail miserably. Very few of us wear plastic gloves to prepare our food for guests. I don't think any of us wear hair nets or even store our food at the proper temperature. I don't know about anyone else but I use the same cutting board for everything (although I do throughly wash it in between).

And of the restaurant inspections I've read, most of the 100% go to fast food places. And the 100% are rare.
