Interesting rumor from WDW

I was down at Epcot last weekend and was really looking forward to the visiting Canada (since I visit the "real" one very often with business travel)...tried the Beavertails...so many on here have raved about them...I personally didn't care for them (to me, they tasted like a really bad Auntie Anne's cinnamon & sugar pretzel...which I love). So if someone could explain the appeal, I'd love it...

Ate at Le Cellier, and while we had a good meal overall (esp the cheddar cheese soup), the steak can't be compared to Shula's, Ruth's, or Mortons. It was very good for "atmosphere", service etc...however.

The Canada film? Unbelievably out-of-date....it has the potential to be the best thing at Epcot...but right now it's about the worst...but I don't know if this is Disney's fault or "Canada's" fault

A Tim Horton's in Epcot??....as a coffee lover, I would welcome as many places to grab a coffee as possible (but I personally prefer Dunkin' Donuts coffee...which has a similiar near-cult following in the US).

Overall, at Epcot was very impressed with Norway and Mexico the most!

Happy Cdn T-Giving!

just got back last week from our trip and we were just commenting how the Canada pavillion needed a Tim's!! Also had a beavertail and was sadly disappointed...they aren't made the same as up here, they aren't deep fried!! So, my take is, if they can't make the beavertails authentic, then yes, get rid of it in place of a Tim's!!

Tracey

P.S. I also ate at the Kona cafe and had their iced cappuccino...pricey, but delicious!!!

Thank you Tracey....was wondering where to get good ice caps when in WDW...that's the reason why I think should be there! hmmmm! addictive! Was going to say why get rid of beaver tails as they would go great with Tim's coffee but if they are not to Canadian standards..they should get rid of it! This is a stamp of canadian "cuisine" and should be well represented...A bit of history for you guys! When they first started, on the market in Ottawa, they weren't even called beaver tails...they were called elephant ears! That's back in the 70's! Anyone else remembers that? Tracey, if they aren't deep fried how the hell are they doing them? microwave???

I love iced caps also but I have to say that I would be disappointed to see Beaver Tails leave Epcot. Not only are they yummy but they are really different than everything else out there! Super tasty and even made with whole wheat flour. Here in Ottawa they are quite popular. Especially great on the Canal when skating in the winter..... mmmmmm. I am not a coffee drinker but I sympathize with those who are because I know Timmy's fans loooove their coffee! It would be great to see both but I guess that would be too much to expect.

Just my two cents worth on the Tim's tea. I think the steeped stff is yucky too. But, if you ask them they will still make it with a bag, just the way I like it.

Okay fellow Winnipeggers where have you seen Beavertails here? I have never seen them in 37 years in Winnipeg. Actually have never heard of them before coming to this site.

mejaie,

You can always find them at the Forks Market - especially at Beavertails Pastry (Go figure...)

Mmmmmm, warm, sugarry beavertails....

As a HUGE fan of Timmie's, nothing would make me happier...BUT, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Tim's is owned by Wendy's, Mc Donald's has a deal with WDW.

'Nuff said.

Anne

How about Beaver Tails and Tim Hortons Coffee. I would miss them if the got rid of them altogether - I know they are not as good as the ones in Ottawa, finger burning hot and dripping with lemon and sugar when you can't feel your toes from skating too long, but don't get rid of them! It's like the movie - I know it is BAD but the song makes me weepy every time and I am still proud to be a Canadian when I see it.

Aside: You cannot get good tea from a drive-in window... what would the queen say? The ONLY place I have found good tea in WDW is at the GF Afternoon Tea and I have yet to find a chain in Canada that can manage it... sorry Tim.

Hey that would be great. My brother went in Timmy's withdrawal when we drove last year!!LOL
But I'm with you. Hate their steeped tea. I like my tea really weak
so was totally bummed out when they switched to steeped tea. But I can still get a decaff with the bag.

Was at WDW Nov 6-13 and was also told by a CM at the Canada pavillion that the beaver tails where on their way out...they are not cooked in oil as it is here and they always have problems with their oven (wasn't working when we were there) and apparently, the rumor is pretty strong about Tim Horton being the replacement... so wait and see!

I have to agree to earlier posts, the Steeped tea is GROSS. I work in a mall and usually get 2 teas a day, I went from paying $2.00 to $3.00. Such a waste. I have now started brewing my own tea at work most of the time!

Would LOVE to be able to get ice caps. When we were there the first time my DH ordered an iced cappucino (sp?) from a cart at Downtown Disney and we were both stunned to discover it was a hot cappucino with ice cubes in it! LOL We had never seen such a thing and we waited until we were out of sight to throw it out. We had the same kind of culture shock when we stopped at Casey's and had hot dogs. It never occured to us that people boil hot dogs except for little kids. We were thinking hot dog cart-style (bbq'd) dogs. Imagine our suprise! LOL

You know where to go to find all the Canuks in Florida if they put in a Timmies at the CDN pavilion. I would welcome a Tim's at WDW I have always wanted to open a franchise in the Orlando airport wonder how hard that would be to get done hmmm.
