wow - this thread has some incredibly valid points about merchandise - some of the same things that you all have been saying on the podcast. Just thought it was a good read if any of you are interested.

I have to admit the selection of merchandise this year was not spectacular. I usually come home with a ton of stuff from WDW, this year however it seemed to be the same merchandise that I could have gotten on my last two trips to WDW (may 08) and disneyland (oct 07) Disney should re think the merchandise they could have made a killing on me alone. I love to spend money when I am there on cool merchandise to bring home but I was even having a hard time finding stuff to spend my money on. I usually save about $500 to $600 to spend on merchandise each trip. This trip I only spent $290 out of the $500 I was willing to spend on disney souveniors.

What you are saying is exactly what everyone on the thread are saying - I HAVE MONEY TO SPEND - GIVE ME SOME INTERESTING, ORIGINAL MERCHANDISE that is not necessarily from the Disney channel! I agree completely!

That is my thought exactly.
I also realized how much I cleaned up on t-shirts last Dec. we were buying the Disney t-shirts for under $10., this trip they want $28.+ tax, and for the same t-shirts.
They need to get their act together.

Along these lines, it has always bothered me when I went to Disneyland and I picked up something that either said WDW on it or was from an attraction or version they only have at WDW. I've never been to WDW so that means nothing to me. If I go to DLR I prefer things from DLR.

In 2006 POTC had a big reopening with Johnny Depp in the ride. I wanted a POTC mug. You would think that would be an easy thing to find since they were hyping the movie and the ride. But no, it didn't exist.
