Interesting presents

My mom got my boyfriend a roll of quarters. He works downtown and has to park at a parking meter during the day time. He's always looking for quarters to put in them. The three of us thought it was hilarious but none of the extended family really got the joke and so I'm sure they thought it was a little weird.

Thanks for the laughs. Me and my DD sat here enjoying this thread. Makes me want to get something funny for xmas...NOT!!:rotfl2:

Why did you throw away the Bailey's? You could have offered it to guests.

No guests this year. We went to/are going other places for the holidays. :)

I threw away the bottle he gave me Christmas of 2011, not this year's bottle.

The weirdest gift I've ever gotten was given by my mom 4 years ago. It was a vibrating hand massager from the Avon catalog. It looked just like a "massager" for a very different part of the body that you'd find in a decidedly NSFW catalog. Let's just say that I never used it.

The worst gift I got this year was during a gift exchange. I brought the gift everyone fought over most (a picnic blanket with carrying handles that I got for half off) and received in return a glass ornament of a woman relaxing in a bubble bath with a martini.

My MIL got each of us (me, DH, SIL, BIL) a talking tire pressure gauge keychain. WTH? :lmao:

My parents bought this for DH and for DS. DH's actually already used it for his bike tires, so it's already been useful. Off the wall, but useful!

I understand it was last year's bottle. Still don't understand why you threw it away. Even if it was open, alcohol has a very long shelf life. This week I felt like having a drink and I dug out some Amaretto I've had for at least 3-4 years. It's been open for at least a couple of years. I have been enjoying some tasty concoctions.

I'm not sure how it works where you live but here in Canada the liquor store will take back unopened bottles. Lots of times people have weddings or parties they buy too much liquor for. It's pretty common to return the leftover unopened bottles for refund or exchange.

I think I remember the poster saying it was a bottle of Baileys. If so, that is one liquor that DOES expire- a fact I found out when I went to crack open a bottle for guests. I think it's due to the cream in it.
I'm not much of a drinker, so whenever I get a bottle of liquor, I bring it to any house or backyard party I get invited to. My sister ends up with most of my bottles for her New Year's Eve parties.

We also gave DGD and The Boy a roll of quarters each, for their laundry. We filled a tall hamper with a large bottle of Tide for sensitive skin, dryer sheets, pre-treating stain sticks and a bleach stick, and two large packs of clothes hangers. They were very grateful!

I got DH one of these. I got it after Sandy. It was an extra and he loved it. As soon as he opened it, he said we need this and wanted to play with it.

MIL called today to see if I wanted to return it. She must have also gotten one for herself, and isn't pleased with it now that she's played with it.

My DH's aunt is a lovely woman, but a little wacky.

This year she made all three of our kids a "craft."

She got large brown seed pods from one of her trees and dried them out. You know the kind that rattle when you shake them? (Hard to describe but they are dark brown and about 8 inches long).

She tied a ribbon on top, then she glued googley eyes and Hersey's Kisses to them. Except for the baby - she glued glitter to his! ("Because I know he can't eat chocolate yet," she said. Yes, glitter's much better for a slobbery 7-month-old!!)

So she tells my 3-year-old, "Look, it's a pod from one of my trees. And it has eyes!" DD gets really excited and says, "Oh goodie! My own iPod!" :headache: She heard "eye" and "pod" and did her best to figure out what the heck it was supposed to be!

We love her! :hug:This one made me scratch my head though!!

:rotfl2: An EYE pod! :rotfl2: Now I know what I'm making for DH's white elephant exchange next year. :rotfl:

I forgot to mention the best gift of all. My eccentric book store owner brother got me a book called 'How to be a Woman'. Hmmmm? Not sure what he's implying there :confused3

:lmao:

I haven't laughed this hard in ages!

We didn't get any unusual gifts but my dd got a teeth bleaching kit from her boyfriend's parents. Her teeth are really white as it is so we aren't really sure what that was about. :rotfl2: She also got a pair of jeans that are a size 14...she is a 2. These folks are a little strange to say the least. :confused3

It was open...and definitely not drinkable anymore. ;)

We used ours last night and today. We lost power for 15 hours. Ours can be charged with a crank or the solar collector on top. It can charge phones and has a built-in flashlight in addition to the radio and NOAA connection. I was not hoping to use it so soon! :lmao:

My dear mom sent me this year a glass shoe with bubble bath it from the clearance section of the Family Dollar--she did not take off the tag--Only problem is my home has NO bathtubs in it...Showers only...and she knows this... Gotta love them,,,

Now my husbands tops her---He did not get me anything--he says he could not think of anything I really needed!!!! This is the thanks I get for buying him a pint of Moonshine.... Never again.......

Do white elephant gifts count? Because if so I got a toothbrush that plays 2 different Lady Gaga songs.
