Interesting MiceChat article - MK Splash Mtn vs. DL Splash Mtn

That did have some interesting details, and I agree that the MK version of Splash is better because of the coherent story, but I don't know why the article had to declare a "Winner". It's not like we're keeping score. :)

That being said, I'm now going to check out the article by the same guy about the House of the Future. About the only detail I remember from way-back-when is that it had an electric toothbrush.

That was really interesting. SO glad they decided not to put the splash mermaid in that ride.

Thanks for sharing! it is my favorite ride and DD16 and I have a record of 18 times on the ride in one day... We have never been able to beat that record...

I think the conclusion the the hopping rabbit AA in WDW helps give an edge to thier ride is stupid.

If you ever get the chance to ride the SM in the MK take a close look at it. The support structure sticks out ruining the show. I know WDI was quite proud of this AA, but I find it to be one of the worse executed designs they've done.

Still though, outside of how it fits in each park, looking at the ride alone on its merrits, I like the MK version better.

People around here always declare Pirates and Small World at Disneyland Winners when comparing them to their WDW counterparts. It's ok to give WDW a "W" for Splash and Pooh...

One thing I like about the WDW version of splash it that you can sit 2 people in a row... Except when you get all the pooh people on 1 side of the log :scared1:

i LOVE Splash at WDW is my favourite ride ever.

However went i went to DL - i was disappointed - i can't remember why though - it was three years ago.

also the article says Eisner wanted to promote the film 'splash' but splash was released in 1984 - splash mountain the ride opened in 1989.
maybe the writer just meant that Eisner just wanted to use the mermaid from splash - not to promote the actual film around the release date.

I agree, I'm not sure what was relevant about the movie having a part in the ride at all. It seems to be the, "it has a similiar name so they must be connected" school of thought.

I also doubt that Eisner's son saw the model in the corner and it was immediatly green lighted. I once had the CEO of a place I worked come into the store and remark how incredible our building was. Some how they kept building new stores in the plain design they had been. I guess rationality hit my CEO two minutes later. Because instantly falling in love doesn't make business decisions instant.

These things just help make a good stroy.

Wow! I need to send my DGD over to you guys to take lessons! It's her favorite ride too. But my DW & I poop out after a while and convince her to see some of the rest of the park. I don't think we've ever done more than 8 times or so in one day.

And I agree, I like the MK Splash better. Close call, though.

My family has riden the WDW of Splash dozens of times through the years. Not once could we say we got remotely wet. Imagine our surprise when we rode DL Splash! We didn't stop laughing...we were soaked!

While I love the story and animatronics of WDW, you can't beat the hills at DL.
