I called my guide Michelle this morning to inquire about the availablility of VWL March UY points. She wasn't in just yet. Her message included the fact that if I was calling from NJ and on a Do not call list, she couldn't get back to me unless we gave DVC written permission. Wow! Sometimes I do call from our NJ home, so maybe I better sign a waiver now just in case. For how long has this been in force?

did you ask to put on the new do not call for the sales pitch?

if so the new law (I think) includes timeshare. It still does not include charities.

of course I could be wrong and this may only pertain to NJ residents.

I think you are correct Spiceycat. Charties or polls or politcal organizations. I'd be interested in finding out where to get the waiver for DVC. We are almost in the system (hopefully only another week or so) so can probably find out when we call for our first rezzied. So far the do not call list has been a blessing. Now if I can just stop the charities and pollsters to stop I'd be a happy camper. :goodvibes

This must be part of a New Jersey, not Federal, law. Funny though, businesses are typically allowed to call their established customers since there is a relationship already established. I guess would rather not be the test case in a Jersey court.

Keep in mind, this is New Jersey...where the politics sometimes makes DC look like kindergarden.

My understanding is that a while back NJ passed a law that prohibits telemarketers & the like to call anyone who asked that their name/number be added to the state's "Do not call list". If you are on the list & someone calls you they can be fined, etc.

I guess somehow DVC / other timeshares now fall under the sales calls category.

im from new jersey, i havent registered on the new jersey do not call list but you would think if you wanted someone to call you they should be able to do it. our governor went to far with this.

New Jersey is not the only state that does this. :Pinkbounc

AL has it too.

but as I say it doesn't effect charities or as pointed out polls (I got 7 in one night) and polticial staff.

I really wish they would stop these too.

give DVC your work phone.

tht seems odd??? I am on all the no call lists, federal and state, RCI has no problem calling me to deposit my weeks of timeshare!! And I don't call them! How is that any different from Disney? Especially when you are the one calling them?

I am from nj so are you saying if you call them they can't call you back

I work in a sales position for a large company in NJ. I can tell you that Disney has misinterpreted the law for NJ. In this state, if you have a prior business relationship with a person, you can call. Cold calling is not allowed however.

Ok, Michelle did leave a message and so today I'll call to go on the short waiting list for the points (25). There were some available yesterday. If we're going to go with the family in a 2 bedroom, I want to be prepared and accumulate a bit more than the 100 we already have at VWL, and if we happen to be able to use them before we actually need the points for family, so be it, we'll just have to go more often or longer or get the 1 bedroom.

When I talk to her, I'll ask her about my NJ phone situation. I don't always have access to a computer when I'm there, I'm roughing it! :rotfl:

PS. I just called again about the add on and now the message does say that if you are a DVC member calling from NJ, she can call you back. Don't remember hearing that yesterday!

I am on the do not call list since it started and I have had no problem with the DVC calling me. As we have had prior relationship with DVC the call will get through.

bobbiwoz....

When I placed myself on the "add on wait list" ...in January :faint: :faint: by calling my guide, he told me that I was on a "Do Not Call List" and it was necessary I get off it....
...so he could call me when my add on came through. :rotfl2:

He gave me a web site (that I do not remember now) to take myself off. Try calling your guide or MS....

I did a search, and the site is

www.dvcyes.com

This site lets you be contacted by DVC if you live in NJ and want to get a call from a DVC guide. If you are a member, you don't have to go through this. However, if someone from NJ wants to become a member and calls DVC for sales information AND gets a machine message, that person won't be getting a call back unless they go to this site. Even if that person leaves a number to call back, DVC can't if the person is on a Do Not Call list.

That's my understanding.
