Interesting idea for an app

I have used disney dining buddies - go the site, put in a requested ADR, pay them 8 bucks and they scour the reservation site for you, Best 8 bucks you can spend for that hard to find dining. For DVC, I want the ability to plu in my dates, party size and see everything available at one shot - so tired of the website.

I know these is a waitlist but it would nice too basically say hey there is now an opening at X for your dates - given that the waitlist is limited to two. Not that the app would hold the spot for me but just text me that there is now availability. The limiting factor is you have to have enough points and a valid DVC membership to see the resort availability - anyone think of away around this?

Just opinion - let me tell you how this is going to fail - QUICKLY.

Seeing that an outside party can wack the WDW dining system by doing robot requests that bring in cash? WDW will block the services IP address (or filter by HTTP referrer), then offer their own service :). And if they were dumb enough to not do this, or not know how? No surprise - they really need a competent CIO :).

Now - it's a great app... it just has a limited lifetime :).

There was a app that checked availability, Disney closed him down and soon after came up with the RAT.

Isn't that exactly what the availability tool does? I guess you have to search for "best" since it lists everything.

The problem with an app is that searching for DVC availability requires authentication. Would you give your DVC credentials to a third party?

I think the ability to modify reservations online is more important. Having to call MS isn't always feasible.

I'd also rather have the ability to modify online. :)

Since the RAT does what is suggested on a "on-demand" basis, I believe what the OP wants is continual or periodic looks on an automatic basis. If the desired time becomes available, the OP wants t e app to notify the user. That not only requires "credentials", it would put constant demand on the database. If enough people used it, it would either crash the system or require some system upgrades and could also be a security issue. I, for one, am not willing to pay for those kind of upgrades out of my dues. This app would not benefit the system as a whole (since DVC cares not at all who books the room and already has waitlist process).

The previous search engine that did this provides info at 7 months for all but the owners home resort and just periodically updated. They were still shut down so there was something DVC didn't like. ....Probably both the volume and ability of non-members to know what availability was but those are guesses.

I'm ok with the waitlist process and the RAT but do agree the ability to modify online would be very nice.
