Believe me, I think that WDW hotel prices are outrageous. I am hoping to plan a quick 2 night get-a-way to take in the holiday decor from 12/9/22 through 12/11/22.
I see limited stock at WDW, but I did find a room at Coronado Springs via Priceline for $873.60 total.

A room at the Hilton Buena Vista for the same time, also through Priceline was $719.74.
A room at the HIlton Buena Vista with the Mousesavers discount is appx $733 (I didn't write down the exact number).

The difference between on-site and off site is $154 for two nights, which is not too bad in my opinion. I do enjoy being surrounded by Magic.

But, I am not sure I want to rely on the offsite transportation. I've never used Uber before, but would anticipate the cost being $15-20 per trip to the park. Over 2 days I would think that would amount to $80+ as I like to go back to the room for a break.

For once, Disney rates almost seem reasonable to me

I would pick CSR too, not enough of a price break to make a substantial difference. HBV is nice but not any nicer imo. Also, given you'll have disney bus access vs paying extra for ride share, I'd stick to CSR too. $154 is nothing to sneeze at but that could literally be eaten in one meal on property and your off site savings would disappear pretty quick along with paying for uber.

Welcome to the Christmas season... rates at any decent hotel located near Disneyworld will be high. I was looking at rates for Christmas near me on the San Antonio Riverwalk and everything was over $300/night before taxes.

If you move your dates a bit the rates get much lower with a Disney+ subscription... Dec 11-13 is $644 total on the Disney website for Coronado... Other resorts are available for less.

Whatever works for your situation. My off site stays are not in Disney Springs hotels, they are in Flamingo Crossing properties, free parking and free breakfast and it is worth it to me to rent a car.

thanks. I was planning on looking at different dates. Do you know if my son has Disney+ whether he can book a reservation for me? I am traveling alone

He could probably book it under his name and have your name as the secondary guest. See if the Disney+ discount is available and how much it is for where you want to stay. It might be worth subscribing, especially if you plan on visiting again in the same year. There were Disney+ discounts over the summer last year.

I am sure his name would have to be on the reservation as the primary but if you are on the reservation as well you should qualify.

CSR for sure. Having said that Hilton is a really short walk to Disney Springs and you can catch a bus from there to anywhere, even other resorts and the water parks. As someone who enjoys visiting other resorts during my trips and ends up spending a good amount on lyft in order to do so the convenience of being near DS is quite valuable to me, and I would pick them over the cheapest onsite value resorts no questions asked, but not so valuable as to overshadow all the great aspects of Coronado Springs. It's one of my favorite resorts.

What time do the buses leave Disney Springs in the mornings? Early enough to get a jump on the parks?

Oh ok - PP had mentioned that you could you take a bus from Disney Springs to anywhere, but basically you can't. You have to take a bus to a resort - resort to park. Not worth it to me - I will drive or Uber

I’d ride share for sure. DS is the hub for Typhoon lagoon (resort bus to DS to TL) so you can go there but not the normal theme parks.

My mistake. I forgot that we had to walk to Congress Park in SSR to go to EPCOT, and that was a much further walk.

Coronado is one of our favorite resorts. For that difference I would defiititely choose to stay there rather than off site.
