Interesting Conversation With MS Today

I am trying to add on another night to our ressie at OKW for 7/3 so I am calling daily since we are within 7 days. I asked MS when are cancelled or available rooms added to the system - overnight or as they become available. She said she did not know but if rooms would become available, it would have to be numerous before we could get one for 7/3. When I asked her to explain, she said that the bookings are currently higher than the inventory of rooms. I had her explain it twice and she confirmed it again, basically stating the resort was overbooked.

Has anyone been turned away upon arrival because a resort was overbook? We are checking in on 7/2 which is also sold out and I am now concerned. I guess this blows our chance of possibly being able to add a room on to the reservation the day of?

the dvc computers don't allow that to happen - so it must be CRO.

as a member you will get a room. I think they may upgrade the people paying cash. they generally don't upgrade members....

I think Spiceycat is right. It's CRO and they like other hotel chains and airlines do "overbook" There is generally a formula that these places use that is actually pretty accurate on no shows etc. I have stayed at lots of "overbooked" hotels that rarely turn anyone away. Folks fail to show up even at Disney.

And as we know, paying guests are more likely to get "upgraded" (Otherwise the DVC member comes on here and posts and then EVERYONE expects an "upgrade" LOL!)

Thanks! That makes sense. I forgot about the CRO bookings. I'll keep my fingers crossed that a room will open up for the 3rd. If not, we will return to Dsis house in Tampa. I was just hoping to treat them to two nights at a DVC resort. It is a very last minute trip on a Ding fare so I can't complain! I'm glad I was able to get the one night!!!

I know of it happening twice at BCV. If I recall correctly, one was rerouted to an OKW GV and the other put in a BWI concierge room.

Just posted to another thread about our Wild and Crazy Space Shuttle Launch Trip. We started looking for studios last Friday, and by Monday had two nights at BWV, one with a choice of Preferred and BW view! God Bless MS. Since we were told there were no studios at SSR or OKW, I didn't think it would come through on such short notice, but it did.

And now, let's just hope the shuttle launches as scheduled. 3:48 pm on Saturday in case anyone is interested.

Once again good luck on seeing the launch.
