Interest Thread- Upcoming AK Tenative Groups Posted

I am hosting these swaps starting in August. I would like to know what kind of groups people would like. First on AK.
1. Do people want completed pages for the areas?
2. Would you like a mix of rides, animal exhibits, and shows in each group or a specific group for each of those.
Example:
Group 1: rides would include Everest, Kali, Dinosaur, Primevil, and Triceratop Spin
Group 2: Animals would include: Safari, Pagani Trek, Maharajah Trek, Discovery Island Trails, ect.
Group 3: Shows: Pocohantus, Bird(forgot name), Lion King, Nemo, and various groups
or
Group 1: Triceratop Spin, Pocahantus, Mararajah Jungle, and Lion King
3. Do people want restarants or characters that you see in the park also?
4. Are the special photo spots people would want to do as a group?


Universal Swap:
1. How do people want the groups divided? (I haven't been to US in years and have never been to IOA.)
2. Are there any specail groups other than rides, shows, and lands that people want? Are there character greetings, if so whom?

My preference for AK would be for the rides, shows and animals be in separate groups, not mixed in together. Also, I'd prefer elements and not complete pages.

I won't be doing the Universal one.

Rebecca, The bird show is Flights of Wonder, I think.
I have already scrapped our trip of US and IOA from last year. I will know this week if we are going in August! If we do, I would join in this swap.
We have only been the one time, so I'm sure someone else can be more helpful. We did get some character pictures- no lines, just walked right up to them, or we wouldn't have. Lucy and Ricky, the yellow hat man from Curiuos George???, Scooby and Shaggy, Marilyn Monroe, I think there were a lot more.
I have no preference for how they are divided- sorry not very helpful. I just scrapped it day by day. We were there for 7 days and had a blast!

I am interested in the US/IOA swap. I just got back. For IOA you could do a general group for each island and people pick their element. Then for each Island do the Rides as a group (ie Cat in The Hat, One Fish Two Fish, Spiderman, Hulk Coaster, etc....) There are several charcters you can run into as well.

For US kinda of the same format I guess. It is a hard one to work out.

I wouldn't join the US swap as all my trips there have been scrapped, but I would structure it just like NemoMom said - general groups where people can choose their own topics. I don't think you'll get as many participants for that swap. Character meet and greets are hit or miss there - not as structured as in Disney.

For AK, I have loved the swaps where the groups have the topics pre-selected (like the most recent Epcot, MK and MGM swaps) so you know exactly what you'll be getting back and choose your groups based on that. I think grouping by rides vs shows vs animals is a good idea.

I'm definitely in for the AK swap. My preferences are for 1) separate groups (predetermined choices like recent MK swap), 2) elements (title/topper and 2 elements like the recent Epcot Swap), and 3) SMALL groups with only 6-8 participants per group. Having just finished the Epcot swap, followed by the ABC swap, I don't think I will be signing up for any more large swaps for a long while (I don't think my right hand will actually take it for a while - hand cutting paper piecings for 13 people, not fun!).

Restaurants would be good too. I participated in the Eats Swap, and got some stuff then for AK, but would welcome more.

As far as characters, maybe the characters in the Camp Minnie-Mickey area (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy), and the Winnie the Pooh meet and greet area - since they are a given. Other than that, I've seen revolving characters like Meeko, Pocahantas, Governor Radcliff, Kenai & Koda, Chip & Dale, Timon & Rafiki, Baloo & King Louie, Terk, Lilo & Stitch, Jiminy Cricket, DeVine (the vine lady), and the talking palm tree (?) & the talking trash can in Rafiki's Planet Watch.

I can't think of any special photo spots in AK.


I might be in for the US/IOA swap - depending on due date and groups. I also haven't been to either park in years, but I will be going very soon. US sent free one-day, park hopper tickets to FL residents (one per family), so I will be using my free ticket in the next week or so. I'll make a note of things for this swap. And will post back later.

I think characters would be cute if themed to AK instead of just normal colors. I also like different groups and pre-determined things to sign up for. I don't care what I do but like to know what I am getting back and if I can use it.

All of these greet regularly at AK.

Also, what time are you thinking of posting the sign-ups? I have my stash already for this swap, so there are certain groups that I want.

Sorry I ended up at DHS yesterday so I am only getting back to things now. I am going to do elements only. We already did AK completed pages this year- we skipped Epcot at that time. POsting Sign-ups now.

There is another one with the calendar so you can see what swaps are due to open soon. There is also a sticky with photos from completed swaps. For this swap, elements meaning toppers, tags, photomats etc. The hostess posted the particulars in t he sign up thread.

We are a very friendly group and welcome newcomers. Please ask away if you have any more questions.
