With my holiday coming up soon, I'm planning on doing some more character interacting and I need your help. I didn't do much of it the first time I went back in 2008. It was mostly hug, autograph, photo and that was it but I did kiss Minnie on the nose and shake Mickey's hand when me and my brother met them.

I do have some ideas on what to do. I have a disney shirt from Sports Direct which has Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy on it so I'll be wearing that while I'm there and I'm gonna a hat shaped like Stitch with gloves to match and meet Stitch while wearing them to see what happens.

If you have an ideas on what to do or say when meeting a character, please let me know.

Thank you

Get a crazy pen or one with a character topper on it. They tend to respond to that too.

We don't really do anything to encourage interaction and have found over the years that a lot depends on the actual characters as well as how busy it is. We definitely have better interaction when there aren't long lines. If it is really busy and there are a lot of folk out in the line, particularly if they are outside in the hot sun, they tend to try move a little quicker.

Late night EMH at MK used to be amazing for that but they don't have characters out during the EMH in the evenings any more except in the designated meet and greet places now, which is a shame.

This was just before 3 am in Fantasyland in 2009. The park was practically empty and while doing a meet and greet with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto showed up. Aaaah, those were the days :)

That said, if you get there early in the morning when the park opens you can get similar uninterrupted time with them :)

Definitely wearing an item of clothing with that character on helps.

Also a handmade autograph book - have a look on DISigns on here. We did individual cards (with the characters picture on) for the characters to sign and they loved that.

Sometimes something as simple as wearing a hat adds to the fun.

If you play along with the character aswell eg ask stepsister to marry you.

Have fun.

These are good ideas. I even come up with more ideas. If I was to meet Daisy, I could ask her has Donald took her out on a date yet and see what happens. I'm gonna try and meet all the Winnie the Pooh chracters at the Animal Kingdom and have a bit of fun with them (like bouncing with Tigger for example). I may be 27 years old but I'm gonna do it anyway lol

I love meeting the characters and interacting with them. If you're meeting couples together I think it would be fun to say to Minnie that you wish you'd met her before Mickey same with Daisy and Donald and see what happens. With Chip and Dale I always tell one of them I like them more than the other. Always bounce with Tigger... tell Pooh I had honey on my toast or did anyone ever tell him he spells honey wrong. With Stitch I usually show him a piccy of our dog called Stitch. Tell Donald he's number 1 not Mickey!!

If you go on www.kennythepirate.com he has a blog all about characters! If you click on character schedules The last option character interaction it has some good ideas! Telling Donald he is number 1, tell Tigger you can bounce higher then him, the one we are looking forward to doing is asking Buzz about his Spanish mode ;)

Cool. This is really helpful. Thanks very much :)

DH is fantastic at character interaction. He takes great pleasure in saluting Buzz Lightyear - always gets a great response! He bounces with Tigger and barks at Pluto! I sometimes wonder who is the bigger Disney fan!

As we don't have kids, we tend to pick our times when it's a bit quieter with the characters, so we get a bit more out of them and we don't get ushered on too quickly to allow the kids more time!

Thats good. I was thinking of doing a salute to the green army soldier at HS. I'll have to make I do that to Buzz as well.

Does anyone know where I can buy some gloves and a hat that match? I want to buy a Stitch hat with gloves and hoping they would be in the same place.

A couple of years ago on here, I remember reading a topic about characters.
people had listed lots of things theyd done, to interact with the characters.
obviously the usual ones are wearing clothing, hats etc.

Others things theyd done:
Ask Minnie/Mickey when they're finally getting married.
Call chip-Dale and Dale-chip
Mix up Pluto/Goofy.
when you take a picture, say you have to take it again as they blinked.

there were loads of funny suggestions.......may have to look for it. :thumbsup2

Cool. Let me know when you find it and I'll have a look as well.

Before we left for Disney/Universal, we decided to try and get each and every character to dance with DD DS, most of them took little or no persuasion, then when we got home we put it all to a 10 minute music video(it beats making family members sitting through hours of footage)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYiikjHauyg
I honestly think that they like to do different things apart from hugging and signing autographs.

I watched that vid and it was amazing brought a big smile of my face so funny

Brilliant DD is going to love this when I show her tomorrow x

I've had a look and its really good. Made me laugh seeing all the characters dance :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if there will be any villains around the parks when I go at the end of August? I'm just asking because I would like to meet some of them as well.
