I personally have only purchased the insurance if my airfare was included in my package or when we cruised - you never know what could happen on a cruise that could be very expensive.
I didn't take the insurance option when I booked our FTP (ASMo Oct 7-14) and am hoping it isn't too late now that I've seen the NWS hurricaine forecast for this year. They're saying a 69% chance of east coast landfall this year (average is about 51%). I'd be interested to know if the FTP trip insurance applies only if parks are closed due to weather (only happened once in WDW history AFAIK) or if it covers traveller illness, etc. Anyone?
We got it. My mom is scheduled for surgery July 8th, and even though we don't have to make final payment until August 25th, there is a possibility she could have complication in September that would force us to cancel. Also it does cover luggage and travel delays which might come in handy!
I never have purchased the insurance in the past and didn't when I made my initial reservations.....but I made sure I knew how long I had to purchase it - up until my final payment is made. The only reason I'm even considering it is because I will be 30 weeks pregnant when we leave for our trip. We are driving and everything is cancellable up until 5 days before our trip but it's just a precaution that I'm seriously considering under the circumstance.
