several members of my wife's family are sharing cabins on the repo cruise we are going on. is it possible for individuals in a cabin to purchase insurance separately (and should they do it this way)?
since the people rooming together won't be "together", if someone needs to cancel, the other people in the cabin may still want to go on the trip. so would separate insurances make more sense, or does insuring everyone in a cabin together make more sense? who knows, even if people are insured as a group, i assume individuals can utilize the insurance for covered events while others are still able to travel?
does this make any sense?
also for insurance, i know i have to buy within a certain number of days from the initial payment to get pre-existing condition waivers. i sorta understand that the waiver is so you can use a pre-existing condition as a reason for cancelling or interrupting a trip, so if someone was sick and knew they might not be well for the trip, they'd want to make sure they get this because then the insurance will reimburse for the trip if they are too sick.
what i'm unsure of is the pre-existing condition period. many plans have 60 days, and some have 90. what's better? does it mean if a condition has to occur prior to 60 days to be covered or it can occur within 60 days? if suddenly you come down with something the day before the cruise and you can't go, would both 60 and 90 day periods cover it? what if something happens 61 days before the cruise? what if this is a condition you had already?
