Insurance on rental cars?

I am thinking of renting a car from Sanford Airport for our November trip.

I got rate from Dollar of $150.04 for the week of Nov 7- 14.

My question is, since I only carry liability coverage on my car, will I need to pay extra $$ for insurance on the rental?
If so, about how much?

I've never rented a car before!

If you have only liability insurance you will be responsible for repairs to the rental car and possibly to the other person's car if you are at fault. You need to discuss your liability with yur insurance agent. A Gold or Platinum Mastercard offers up to $50,000 coverage that is supposed to take care of charges that remain after your car insurance coverage is exhausted. As far as prices go to the various websites of the car rental companies and
enter your information on the type of car you want to rent and you can get quotes on car rental charges and insurance costs. Insurance cost obviously varies with the type of car you rent. Good luck!

Check with your insurance agent. In New York, as long has you carry liability insurance it will pay for any damage to a rental car.

Liability insurance covers only your "liability" in the event you are sued. You also need insurance for "property damage" to vehicles. You don't necessarliy have insurance for both liability and property damage. Check with your agent.

Another vote for "call your agent" and possibly your credit card company if they offer car insurance benefits.

If you booked it with a Visa card, go to visa.com and check out their protection policies or better yet, like a poster above, call your cc company.
