Insurance Help.....

Can someone offer some advice, we promised to take my grandad away with us this christmas, he rearly wants to come and his flight are booked, the problem we are having is with insurance, because he had a heart bypass, although is in excellent health now with no real problems other than a well controlled bp with meds, he is fine but the insurance quotes are coming back at silly prices like 1300 £ silly prices, yikes thats way too much, anyone have any experience with insurance or suggestions?

My Mum has a few pre-existing conditions the 1st time she came with us she used Saga travel insurance which was quite good. Since then we have used Go-Travel they have been excellent, last year for 3 weeks and including the cruise only cost her £96.

Good luck, we have friends that were planning on going this year mainly to visit family in Florida until they started looking for insurance, £3,000 for 2 weeks cover. They have decided not to go now.
DMIL used age concern when she went with us at Xmas, she is diabetic and heart condition, cost her £269.52 for 10 days cover.

My DH grandparents had the same issue last year, in the end the managed to get free insurance with there credit card and just paid a £100pp extra charge for there medical conditions to be covered.

They tried people such as age concern who all had very good cover. Unfortunatly it is just a matter of having a good search, there will be a insurance company that have reasonable prices.

I've just had similar problem with my dad - he's just gone off to Oz for 9 weeks.

We tried Saga and a few of the others listed at British Heart Foundation website http://www.bhf.org.uk/living_with_a_heart_condition/insurance.aspx
and in the end found the cheapest was Help The Aged - the policy is a Liverpool Victoria one and sold by Intune insurance .
