Insulting "compliments"......

UGH those are the worst!!

My6 drama coch used to call them constrictive crudisisms.

Wow you look great for having had triplets. Ok so how would I look if I only had 1 baby at a time, and too bad it was almost 2 years ago, cant really use that excuse much longer

My mother in law:

"I love your taste in decorating, but....
you know something it's odd"!!!

Maybe that's why we see them once a year and they live less than a 1/2 hour away....mmmmmmmmmmmmm let me think with someone like that who needs it!!!!LOL!

Right after the birth of my son, I saw a sweet lady that I've known for years. I was by myself and she said "When's that baby ever going to get here? You know, you look so radiant when you're pregnant.:)" I told her he was born about 2 weeks before.:o

From a "street person" downtown

Did it hurt when you fell from the sky?

Okay, so here's the insult. When I told DH how tickled I was by this (unsolicited) compliment, DS asked what it meant. DH replied, " the man was saying that your mother is an angel...a fallen angel apparently..."

Said to a friend of mine:

"I know that you're trying to lose weight and that's why you wear black all the time. When you do lose all your weight, I would LOVE to see you in some color."

My friend said she has actually preferred black even when she was a size 8.

I had to resurrect this thread from page 3.

Here's mine (I hear it at least 2 or 3 times a week):

Your daughter is beautiful - she looks nothing like you. Gee thanks, am I that ugly? I know it is b/c she is fair with big blue eyes and I have dark hair, brown eyes and olive skin, but I hate hearing it. Can't people stop at she is beautiful?

Just lurking here but had to add one I didn't see.....

Last year enjoying a very small pregnancy (yep I was actually measuring small) 50 pounds less than I was at that point with first pregnancy I walked into Pizza Hut for a carry out and this woman who was shorter than me but out-weighed me by many pounds patted my 8 month preggo belly and exclaimed (everyone in the restaurant heard her) "OH MY LOOORD YOU ARE HUGE"!:o in a southern drawl, laughter erupted in the restaurant! Thanks for making a weight conscious pregnant woman feel good as she picks up her pizza! :p But it did bring many laughs for many days as my friends and I repeated it over & over again. Doesn't every woman get some sort of special treatment by a complete stranger while she's pregnant (you know that unknown somebody who just has to touch you, the "my gosh it looks like you are about to bust", the "how many more days/weeks have you got it seems like you've been pregnant forever")?::yes::

Visiting other boards while the baby sleeps ;)

LOL, this just happened to me. For about 5 years I have worn my hair long and one length. About 3 weeks ago I cut it short and put layers in and some long bangs. For days I kept hearing how much better I look, I look 10 years younger (I'm only 32 - I didn't think I looked that old). I know people mean well, but they need to think before they speak.

How about "when are you due?" ---and you aren't pregnant, anymore . Someone asked me this when my baby was a month old, and I hadn't lost the belly yet.(actually, my last baby was almost 14 yrs ago, and still haven't lost it.

"You know, I don't really think of you as "black" " How does one respond to that?
