We will be flying on this trip and space in our luggage will be an issue. Do the resorts have med waste disposal that guests can use? I don't want to take a sharps container or bring my used needles back home (which is what I usually do), so I thought I'd check in a see if anyone had any ideas.

TIA!

I'm sure one of the mods will be along w/ a more definitive answer for you, but I am pretty sure that you can just call mousekeeping for a sharps container for your room for your stay. They don't want any mishaps w/ loose needles in your room any more than you do! :goodvibes

Not sure where you are staying (deluxes have fridges) but if you need a fridge for your meds request it ahead of time, you should not be charged extra if it's a medical necessitity.

Thanks for the super-quick reply - the less I have to worry about, the better. Now if I could just write some DAZZLING lesson plans for my class sub to teach during my upcoming vacation ... I could finally sit back and breathe. I'll admit, though, sometimes it's tough to make high school math dazzling.

In 2005 I was beginning a round of IVF and had to give myself injections during our trip to Disney World. At the hotel, they provided me with a Sharps container. At the parks, I stopped into the First Aid station to give myself the shot and dispose of the needles.

I understand that Mousekeeping will provide sharps containers. While we were there, we just kept the used syringes in a water glass and took them home in a plastic bag to be disposed of.

Yes, hotels and cruiselines will provide you with a Sharps container - just ask. Like somebody else said, it is for the safety of their housekeeping and garbage staff.

If you need injections throughout the day, you can dispose of your needles in a soda bottle. You know the single serving..coke bottles. The plastic is hard enough that the needles won't go through. Just keep the bottle, until you get back to the hotel, and put them in the sharps container. Also bring safety syringes if possible.
